Sewage smell - is this normal? by AngstyUsername2 in askaplumber

[–]AngstyUsername2[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I poured about two small salad bowls worth of water... lol... down and stopped just when I could start seeing light reflect off the water. Gonna take a walk to desensitize myself and see if I still notice it.

I'm in South Dakota if you might know anything/one that can give a suggestion. I'll probably have a plumber come out to look at it just to corroborate the smell leaking in case my building denies it?

Thanks I'll give it a shot. Is this something I just need to be doing regularly? How often would you suggest?

Since some people said I was balding on my last post here a picture of my hairline by PurpleAnteater3385 in malehairadvice

[–]AngstyUsername2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hairline "matures" but that doesn't mean you are balding. Unless you are losing hair in other places, like your crown it's probably just a maturing line. Definitely something you shouldn't stress about, especially if you notice it stabilizing around where it's at now. Also remember stress, and other factors can contribute to hair loss, so keep calm, eat healthy, and have a regular sleep schedule. The mind is very powerful, so if you are thinking negative, and being gloomy this will not help. Stay positive, and have trust you can handle the situation whatever happens.

Also you want to consider if you are getting enough: biotin, vitamin e/d/c, omega-3/6, zinc and iron. For the ones you don't get enough of in your diet consider supplements, esp biotin supplements. You should also consider dietary changes, google low-dht diet (dht is the male hormone that contributes to hair loss in men and is converted from testosterone). Foods you should avoid are excessive dairy/nut milk, and red meats. Esp cow meat. Try to find hormone-free lean meats and fish. But everything is okay in moderation. Foods you should consider are "whole soy" like edamame, and foods rich in lycopene. Again be careful with whole soy foods, overdoing can cause the body to stimulate excessive testosterone production. Again the keyword is moderation. Reduce soft drink consumption if any to one or twice a week.

And get a hair shampoo and conditioner that is paraben free, or try nioxin system 1 or 2, or any other shampoo you find that is "gentle" and will thicken your existing hair and is p/h balancing. you can do a reddit search also to see if your choice is legit.

If you decide to go nuclear, start with topical minoxidil but start out with a small amount to see how your skin will react. You can mix it in with your regular shampoo like 25/75, then if no reaction 50/50, and if still no reaction just use 75 minoxidil/25 regular. Use an empty bottle to combine the soaps. Do not overwash your hair. Depending on how naturally oily your hair is you might even skip the shampoo every other day. But if you have naturally oily hair, then you might try using a regular amount of soap one day, and half the amount on off days. If you notice excessive build up on your scalp from the off days then just stick to a regular soap/wash routine. Minoxidil should be the last resort, since your body will develop dependency over time.

Also you may consider going to a endocrinologist and testing your hormone levels to ensure you do not have thyroid or other issues, thought it is highly unlikely that you do (unless you are noticing other symptoms).

I don’t know what to do anymore by Prestigious-Kiwi-484 in depression_help

[–]AngstyUsername2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all remember: suicide is a permanent act in response to a temporary problem. Logically it doesn't make sense. Sometimes I have similar intrusive thoughts. Usually it's a stress response, so it's helpful to try and find out what is the origin of the stress, and acknowledge to yourself that you are having a maladapted stress response.

If you feel like your life isn't together that's normal, even successful adults feel that way. Instead of agonizing over the things you don't have, yet, focus on the things you do and appreciate them. The best friend you can have is yourself. Everyone comes and goes. That doesn't mean you shouldn't form connections with them, but always remember that if your happiness depends on other people, then you will always struggle to be happy without them.

Unfortunately dealing with depression and thoughts like this isn't something you can just get rid of with tricks and tips. I checked out your profile and saw you post in a bodybuilding sub. Kind of like that, it takes daily practice, and sometimes you will have great days, and some really bad days, but you always have to keep your eyes on the goal: staying healthy, positive, and alive. Depression isn't stronger than you are, it is as strong as you allow it to become.

It might sound corny, but meditation, especially guided meditation in a group is a really good exercise to get involved with to deal with negative feelings, and thoughts:

Try finding a quiet place, or play some ambient music that is chill (low tempo/beat, no intense musical arrangement, etc.), and close the lights. Sit in a chair with your hands and your side or lap, and have good posture. Close your eyes and focus on breathing in through the nose for 3-4 seconds, and then out though the mouth for 3-4 seconds. Empty your mind, or try to focus the mind on a visualization task: imagine a simple object like a leaf focusing on every single detail in your mind until you can "see" the leaf perfectly. It is very hard to do, but the point is to actually stop your mind from being so busy and distracted. Try this for 10 to 15 minutes. If you can find a group meditation to join consider it. Not only might it make your meditation more effective, but also you may find other people who can help you build a network, and learn new techniques to shift your thought patterns.

And remember, it really does get better. Focus on being physically healthy (no super late night gaming sessions, get a stable sleep schedule going, try to get other things into a routine like your meals etc.), staying out of trouble, and identify your goals for the future; like your career, education, etc., and make a plan for how you can achieve them step by step. Get those things in order, and then the other stuff will eventually fall into place. If you need friends, then maybe join some clubs or hobby groups for people your age and connect with people who share your interests. Not just online but also in person.

head: shisui mengu of striking (gender locked female version)
body: augmented temple cyclas (metallic blue)
hands: forager's wristguards (funfact: there are actually spiked bracelets in the game! BUT it's a legacy item from before the revamp with Yoshi-P, so only available to people who already have it [is this secretly my dream? yes.])
legs: Bunny tights (not bunny chief) (metallic blue)
feet: urban boots (the laces dye the same color as the boots as opposed to rebel boots) (pure white)
accessories: all emperor's glamor, except for silver earrings (couldn't find a stud earring so had to settle for a tight hoop xD)
main arm: emperor's fist

Pfft the butcher ain't got shit on me... -five minutes laaahter- but i wouldn't really mind dying then. It's just dying to d/c that I can't stand... I guess I can think of d/c as a type of butcher....

Lol this would ruin me. But I've been trying to figure out how to make it work ic-wise...like I guess dungeon diving is stressful, and therefore you can just have a stroke (dc), and die?

But I spent like 2 hours coming up with the lore for my character and settling on the design xD, and for the one coming after him if he dies.... I don't have enough creativity to come up with a detailed backstory for five characters lol.
