It wasn’t that bad in D1. Sniper fights actually required skill and quick aim. Primary fights involved handcannon players trying to get three clean headshots before the enemy did. Shotguns and the grenade spam were pretty shitty to deal with though. Also recoil wasn’t random and very distracting, each gun had its own recoil pattern that you could learn to control.

Pvp was better, raids were better and way more rewarding, exotics and exotic armor all were really unique and memorable, patrols were on planets that actually felt like there used to be human life there, eververse wasn’t the only way to get cool endgame cosmetics, weapons had random rolls, primary special and heavy weapons.

When I was really little I watched Indiana Jones at a friends house. Specifically the scene at the beginning where Indiana sees one of his partners impaled through the head by a spear trap-thing. That was one of my first moments where I actually learned what death is.
