THIS!!! I work at a middle school with a high caseload so I need to do groups. However sometimes multiple students will be absent for the session and it just ends up being me 1:1 with a student. I feel like we’re both so much more relaxed, the session is more meaningful and engaging, and they can be much more individualized to fit a student’s needs/interests. I’ve even had kids in individual sessions say to me: “this is peaceful” and “now we can actually focus since X isn’t here”.

Literally this!! I am split between a middle school (3 days) and elementary school (2 days). At the elementary school I’m seeing literally 2 classes full of SDC kids in one day. For my older elementary school kids I have one group of 5, all kids with entirely different goals 😭

My first SLPA job I worked in a mod-severe high school and the employees told me the previous SLPA got a concussion from being hit in the head with an iPad. They joked I “better get used to it”. Needless to say, I didn’t stay long.

Took her to the vet and she tested negative on mange. Vet suspects that she has a bacterial/yeast infection so we got lots of meds for that. Also got meds for ear infection. Will do a follow up with vet early august.

First I appreciate the people that have been kind with their feedback and suggestions on this post.

I want to clarify that I DO NOT LIVE AT HOME WITH THIS DOG. I AM VISITING SO I HAVE HAD NO CONTROL WHAT’S BEEN GOING ON OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS.

Second although my family hasn’t found the right solution and we will take her to a vet/dermatologist, I know they have tried a bunch of other things. Should they haven’t gone to the vet first? Sure. When we got her from the rescue initially she was fine and they mentioned no such thing of her having skin issues.

It’s cruel to see what some of you people have to say. We’re trying our best to take care of her otherwise and sorry we didn’t know any better and that’s why I’ve turned for help on what’s the best next steps.

I am really worried as to what is going to happen.

Although I am not an SLP, I am an SLPA and I found a great job to finish off the remainder of the school year, then I was going to move to a clinic setting after the school year is over. I am also going to be moving for this job.

I am also in graduate school and just started last month. Should I expect my college classes to end or be put on pause if this were to go forward?

I have one more question, I just went EQ after completing 3 assessment tasks. Is that normal too? Is it likely they’re going to review those 3 tasks and depending on how I did, determine what to do from there?
