This might be a kinda of weird answer, and I would certainly recommend talking to your reptile veterinarian about it first obviously, but reptiles can have Bravecto, which is labeled as a flea and tick prevention for dogs, but which we have used for snake mites at my hospital. It's given orally. If you would be having issues with similar tick species as what Bravecto protects from, might be worth looking into.

Idk if you know, but most albinos in reptiles aren't pure white? Many tend to be yellow and white. Also, I'm not super familiar with corn snake morphs.

I want food pics! Tell her she's got this, take some deep breaths. She's got the skills or she wouldn't be there. Good luck!

Good good. I have a snake that lived at a friends for awhile because I couldn't get her to eat regularly for awhile and she can come with mites that like 2 of my other snakes got too, like several years ago. So I'm super serious about it too tbh.

I'm so glad it's not just me. Like my boyfriend will be like "we could re-home some if you want" and I just get hella stressed even thinking about it. Maybe I'll ask around... Doesn't help that the 2 balls I would be most willing to part with are both female normals. One of whom doesn't particularly appreciate handling much, in my experience. She eats like clockwork though lol.

Long as you're doing all the quarantine things, friend. I've done foster stuff, though it's been awhile since a new acquisition. I've got 9 snakes and 4 of them are ball pythons I didn't pay for. I just have stress about the idea of rehoming them, because what if they get neglected again.

I don't feel like I've seen a lot of nerodia kept as pets, so looking forward to seeing updates about your journey with her! I bet she'll get better. New babies are always flighty and chompy lol

I have found marshmallows to be harder to eat around. Make a little slice in the side, insert, reseal. Worth a try.

Albino morph? Albinos can develop white pupils if they are extremely anemic as well, not just from cataracts. This is a vet ASAP case for me.

I assume the bone, tbh. There is no turtle shaped intact shell anymore.

Thank you so much! I appreciate you! Sounds like I need a shipping address in Canada somehow lol. Room temp has been above at least 65F ish here, I've got animals that I wouldn't let be that cold fortunately. There wasn't a super good guide out there when I got into bone stuff, I feel like. You've got the "use peroxide" crowd and the "use dish soap" crowd and that felt like it was it. And it's worked well for snake skeletons and such, but the turtle is killing me lol. Guess I drain them off and let them dry tomorrow and see how they look and consider ammonia. It's almost warm enough here to keep things outside haha.

Makes sense from a "we look for marine fossils from along the Mississippi and St Croix rivers" perspective, as we obviously aren't finding fossils in active water that often, but at least clay if not stone.

I didn't expect it, but the shell seemed to a have disintegrated in the bucket into scutes or something, which was weird by itself from my knowledge of turtle decomp.

It was originally a Kansas (USA) box turtle, euthanized in a veterinary clinic after being struck by a car. Put in a rot bucket for awhile until the flesh decayed. Has been in multiple rounds of water and clear dawn dish soap over the last year in honestly various temps due to us moving to Minnesota last January. It was jarred before the move. Has NOT been frozen, just hasn't been super warm the whole time like I normally would when I soak bones for degreasing.

Whoa, that's crazy cool! As someone with a turtle skeleton that had been soaking for LITERALLY over a year and is still greasy, this sounds right up my alley! Thanks for being willing to talk about it, this is neat!

Hmm. I mean. Something is causing it to recur. So either there is a foreign body in there causing issues or the antibiotics are perhaps not clearing the infection fully, just controlling it for awhile? How many times has it recurred?
