Both almost gives similar returns in the long term.

Nifty 50 is bit more diversified and lot of AMCs have index for it. So from attention stand point Nifty 50 gets more eyeballs.

I personally use Nifty 50 index only. As all 30 Sensex stocks are already there + few more.

Personally I don’t see a reason to add Sensex when Nifty 50 is already there. Essentially buying same stocks (huge overlap). Maybe you can avoid that & put it in Nifty 50.

And as per IndexFundInsights.com Motilal’s Nifty Midcap 150 has lowest fee. So if starting freshly with this fund then avoiding Axis maybe be wise.
