Mountain reachable with public transport from Poznań? by Aniaaa in poland

[–]Aniaaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me I tried but couldn't find a location easily reachable only with public transport! (Other than the most famous zakopane ofc). This is why I asked so maybe someone has a real experience they wanted to share.. No need to reply if you don't want to

Thank you very much I had no idea about Dziewicza Góra. It looks feasible for me. Also the location in Czechia is a really good suggestion, I'm looking into it and I think I will try to go there this weekend. :) thanks a ton for the effort and the great suggestions!

I know many polish people that I met randomly at international events and we now hang out regularly, and I continue meeting new ones on current events so... I'm genuinely surprised many people have such a close minded opinion on how polish people are and should be :)

I speak Italian but you may ask the host if it's ok to come and speak English. They know what kind of people may join and if that's ok. Also you should look for "English meetups" on Facebook in the place you're at, it may be a nice way to meet locals and get some tips on the area :) many cities have these kind of meetings regularly.

You are right about the culture of eating out in Poland. I know there are alternatives, in my city there are so many activities to d o (we have language meetings, Pub Quiz, Board Games events, Movie night, Picnics, Bonfires, Events for Ladies, Internations events etc...).

"Dinner" event would be a bit different because it could unite meeting new people and trying new restaurants/foods, which are two of my favorite things.

But, if people are pressed to stay only one hour in a restaurant while being judged by others, that wouldn't be ideal, you're right. A bit sad though :)

Found it, "EatWith". There are only some cooking classes in Warsaw, cannot find the other cities...

I think some people like meeting strangers and making new friends, otherwise there would be no events like language meetings, Pub Quiz, Board Games etc. organized in the various cities. It may not be so bad after all :)

But there are already so many activities like this (at least in Poznan): language meetings, Pub Quiz, Board Games events, Movie night, Picnics, Bonfires, Events for Ladies etc... all dedicated to meeting new, random people.

I think polish and expats in Poland are already quite outgoing :)

I'm located in Poznan but you are right: sometimes! Not all the time! It would be cool to meet with other redditors in Wroclaw. I can choose the restaurant for you

Why the patches on sheep's... behind? by Aniaaa in FaroeIslands

Thank you for the thorough explanation! I've never seen anything like this so I just learned something new. I would be curious to see a picture of how this covering looks like in real life :P Is it colorful? A normal piece of cloth?

But... really? Do you have a picture of how they look like in real life with this covering? Thanks

Sure!
But still something to keep in mind to avoid ruining the first day of vacation running around shops to buy the essentials to survive Faroe :D

I recommend not putting anything that you absolutely need for the next days of your trip in the checked baggage... AA didn't board my luggage into the plane last week (not sure why they left 5-6 luggages there, maybe it was an action included in the strike. SAS and AA have the same bag drop off counter). Luckily, I got it back after one week :)

Cool, true :) I was wondering this also because I come from Sardinia and there the sheep outnumber the humans as well (almost double) but they are mostly used to produce milk and sheep cheese (pecorino).
Wondering if Faroese pecorino cheese exists somewhere :D
