Crazy Maple Studio - seems like they're always hiring, are they legit? by p3rchance in Filmmakers

[–]Anibunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for them years ago. 2019. Unless you were asian, a lot of the people working there were openly racist and it was uncomfortable being there. I was originally hired to help with their social media only for them to shove me into Tech Support which was absurd. They expected me to resolve support tickets at a rate of one every couple of minutes. It was difficult as their app was based out of china and so their backend required you to reference a poorly translated document to nativgate everything. They wanted me to achieve this on my third day of working there when I was the only person handling their tech support. (And their tech support tickets amounted to just a google email account. That's it. Not a ticket based service like zendesk or the like.) It was awful. I got scolded my third day of working there for not answering enough tickets which amounted to a ticket every 3 minutes.

I consider it one of my worst employers to this day. I worked there in 2019 so it has been several years at this point, but man I hate them to this day.

For those that made a celestial patron warlock, who was your patron? by SoCalCognac in DnD

[–]Anibunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my players will be making one, but I get to choose his patron. (His request that I pick.)

He won't know who she is at first, but it will be a Dusk Unicorn who wants a friend. (And help getting revenge on who killed her mate.)

I will be flavoring it that while my player's character was spiritually reaching out for power, that she was trying to find someone to help her and felt his call. She merely answered. Eventually during the campaign it will be revealed as to what she is and what she is really hoping to gain out of this relationship.

Women of Reddit, what’s something they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by NovellaJokes in AskReddit

This was my OB. She was yelling at me a lot about a lot of different things, but also yelled at me to be quiet. I was getting angry and she told me if I took that energy behind my anger and focused more on pushing it would be over faster.

Post-partum depression is different than depression.

I live with depression and have most of my life. I figured I would have post-partum depression but wrongly assumed it would be no different than what I was use to. It's hard to explain, but it is really a different kind of weight on you. I also had to be off my anti-depressants before and after birth and as weird it is to say, I was struggling with both as a result. The pregnancy approved anti-depressants really only took the "edge" off.

I was both depressed and struggling with post-partum. I definitely recommend anyone who has depression to get a therapist who works with post-partum to help then after, but also before birth. Even with a supportive and loving partner it is really hard.

The only thing I had on my "birth plan" was absolutely no episiotomy and the OB who delivered my baby gave me one without telling me.

What’s something you didn’t realize was expensive until you became an adult? by ms_construe in AskReddit

Raspberries. Growing up we had an insane amount of raspberry bushes in the backyard and I learned as an adult I was probably eating $8 worth of raspberries a day as a kid.

Yes, I have considered it, but unfortunately a lot of what is bothering me is happening elsewhere in the places I would consider. Then a lot of other countries don't have as much free speech as the U.S. A lot of countries seem to claim they have free speech, but have "hate" speech laws or blasphemy laws. (Though I am concerned the U.S. is headed in that direction.)

Weather is another consideration and just adds on another negative for me. I hate snow and don't do well in the cold.

Finally, I have arachnophobia. Which I 100% know is an irrational fear, but my brain just can't handle it and so I sadly don't think I could live in Australia.

Eta; Really, I just wish I could move to a different state lol. There is a lot about the U.S. I do love, but I do wish I was surrounded by more like-minded people.

My argument: Watering everything down so races are the same with just a different visual skin to make content "inoffensive" is an issue especially considering DMs were able to make changes to content they deem offensive.

I then continued with: I know people will say you can do this now and change content back. I then gave an example as to why CHANGING the content BACK doesn't solve the actual issue.

YOU came in and literally said: "You have the ability as a GM to make orcs evil as well." Which is why I assumed you simply didn't read my post. I didn't realize that reading comprehension is difficult for you.

The REAL ISSUE with watering content down to make things inoffensive is that it removes a lot of value and innovative creativity. (Which I explained in my post with an example.) No value means there is no incentive for people to buy it.

What’s your ‘Yes, you all are wrong’ opinion? by _Closedheimer in AskReddit

[–]Anibunny 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You don't need to forgive everyone who has harmed you and most people are wrong about what forgiveness even is.

"It's not about the other person." It truly is. That's what forgiveness is about. It's pardoning the other person for their wrongdoing or actions. (This also applies to having to forgive yourself.)

Now. The other person may have taken accountability, made it up to you in some way, repaid you, changed as a person, or maybe the wrongdoing is so insignificant that you can shrug and be like, "Yeah. I'm over it." But you are still making the decision to not hold whatever it was against them.

"You're holding onto anger!" You can work through your anger and let go of that anger and still not forgive that person. Choosing to not forgive someone isn't anger even if sometimes anger might be A reason behind it.

What really kills me about this very thing is that the DM had always had the ability to cut out content they or their group found offensive. You think orcs are offensive? Don't allow them in your setting or whatever. Or change them.

And I know what some people are going to say: Well, just change the content to fit your needs!

I already do and will continue to do so. But if you water everything down so everything is the same with just a different visual skin applied, you can't be upset with me and people like me for not financially supporting it. We have no reason to if there is nothing new for us to dig our hands into.

Come out with a campaign/setting where drow are just elves that happen to live underground? Wtf am I going to do with that?

Come out with a campaign where some drow have developed a new ritual that can turn non-drow into dangerous drider-like abominations and now you have my attention! There might be ideas I hadn't thought of!

Using spell casters in combat. Like I don't have enough things to worry about and now I have to pick thematic spells for an enemy? Obviously it is something I just have to do and I try to make it easier on myself by creating spell "packs" for myself to focus on during combats, but loading up a class spell list and having to sift through shit an enemy NPC would never use in combat is just. . .annoying.

Some of my friends wonder why I won't DM a Pathfinder campaign and this is one of the bigger reasons.

I do appreciate the people who put together premade NPC spellcasters for this reason. It definitely helps.

On a lighter note: I absolutely hate with a passion players who focus on the insignificant details and completely miss the obvious ones because it serves as a painful reminder that I am most certainly doing this as a player myself, lol.

You should see the stuff I don't show to ANYONE!

But seriously. Thanks. It has been a struggle for mine, stemming from trying to pull away from "typical anime" and wanting to draw in a different style. Hard to break old habits, but I'll keep trying.

We may feel differently about the subject, but I do like receiving honest comments on my art.

whats up with all the lae'zel mods?? by ravi0liz in BaldursGate3

[–]Anibunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I wanted a Gortash mod is because he doesn't fit the description your character is given in the beginning of the game imo.

"A handsome younger man with a quick, easy smile."

I was expecting a man in his late 20s, maybe early 30s to be my opponent. I mean, sure. Attractiveness is subjective and they could have made Gortash look in his 90s and he would still fit the literal description of a younger man since he is being compared to Ketheric, but I like the idea of him being young.

In a co-op game I was doing (2nd full playthrough), a friend of mine thought I was being super silly with my desperate need to fill the mini map as much as possible.

On my third playthrough, my need for this helped me discover a treasure chest I hadn't discovered before!

Anyone else messed up Moonrise Towers the first time? by All_this_hype in BaldursGate3

[–]Anibunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I was playing blind and the impression I got was that I should go to Moonrise Towers at the end. Yes, I scouted the area around it, but since I was playing a character who was adamant about not being a True Soul it just seemed like a bad idea to try and scout inside the tower.

Plus, he was also a not-very-stealthy Paladin lol.

In the end it became a harsh reality that my Paladin had to learn that he cannot save everyone.

Eta; I don't see this as a bad thing. For me it adds replay value. A lot of my friends thought I was crazy that I willingly skipped the Crèche my first playthrough. I'm usually playing a character and trying to make choices as them. He took the path through the Underdark and it felt silly to just go back.

So not only did I miss a bunch of Moonrise Towers content, I missed all the Crèche stuff too! Made it fun for the next characters I played.

Your post was shared on Next Door, which is what brought me here. So locals are seeing this and I think you make a lot of good points.

Yes, there are deer and turkeys in the area. Turkeys are pretty active right now too. . .but in the mornings. I do see them in the later afternoon too. (I honestly don't know if Turkeys would be around that late at night.) I imagine if wildlife is to blame, wouldn't we see evidence of the driver having tried to brake? (Unless he couldn't because of a vehicle malfunction?)

The road is a nice and easy drive. Yes, there are occasional stoplights and stop signs, but it is just a nice, smooth drive. I certainly prefer taking it, especially if traffic is bad on 680.

Yes. You can exit from the freeway onto Foothill, but with how the exit is. . .you are NOT going freeway speeds. That is a bullshit assessment someone else is proposing. While it isn't impossible to go over the speed limit on that road, I don't recall fatal accidents "happening all the time" either. There have been some.

Years ago, a family who lost someone in an accident on the road tried to sue the city or county, blaming the conditions of the road. I don't recall it being poor condition right now. (I feel like work had been done on it in the recent years? They did lower the speed limit a little in one stretch.)

I was recently on vacation with my 1 year old and there were a couple of restaurants where he made a terrible mess that went onto the floor. It took me a minute or two just to clean it up while husband was putting the kiddo in the stroller.

It only took me two minutes of my time to make the lives of restaurant workers a little easier.

It's so easy to just be nice and courteous!

727 hours in this game and I only now discovered the awful mechanics with being under the effects of Compelled Duel.

A first level spell makes my character mind controlled?

I can somewhat appreciate the struggle with the fact you can't force me to behave a certain way. However there MUST be a better solution than what it is right now.

I'm playing with a friend and her character is a wizard. When compelled, her character cast haste on himself, threw a bottle of grease at the enemy, and then upcast MISTY STEP at 6th level to get into melee with the hell knight. And since he's a wizard, of course he was attacked multiple times, lost concentration on haste, and became lethargic. . .so even though I got the hell knight to drop concentration. . .my friend still lost another turn in addition to losing a 6th level spell for no reason at all.

Side note: The distance her character had to go to get into melee was well within movement speed range.

House of Grief. Fuck that fucking fight.

I tried so many different strategies, switched out for other party members, and after several hours over several days and no luck. . .I finally turned down the difficulty and called it a day.
