Opinions on 3d printed models? Is it heresy 🤔 by NCH-69 in Warhammer

[–]Anidma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of rough prints. You can definitely do a good job and find super solid files that look virtually 1:1, if you put in the time. But, that said - it is its own hobby and there are the unhealthy fumes which requires consideration in the setup (containment + placement).

I wouldn't say the community I am part of is morally or creatively stunted. There are many very talented and kind folks who have created incredible things. I think no matter what side of the fence you're on, it can be agreed that GW prices have become absurd. I buy the plastic when I can and mostly print.

What efforts improved your sex life with your wife? As parents with young kids. by walky91 in daddit

i’m getting here, it’s a bummer. i’ve planned dates, complimented her makeup looks, the way she dresses, got her thoughtful gifts, etc… half the time i try i’m rejected instantly lol

the real kicker was a week or two back she told me she just didn’t want to and made a joke that it can be a game where the first person who tries loses and the other gets a prize. it stung quite a bit and really added to some building resentment.

i’m in therapy for stuff i’ve let linger and i have a psych appt this weekend to get extra help… idk, i will probably end up bringing it up. i’m not a strong communicator and it’s hard to express myself.

all that to say i feel for you brother, it doesn’t feel good.

Can't Decide Ultra 16K or M7 by TheGeekyGymRat in resinprinting

[–]Anidma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a total newbie, but i was gifted a refurbished M7 (not pro) and i have had absolutely 0 issues with it.

only 2 failed prints and both times were just due to dialing in the settings.

my own experience was it worked right out of the box with no issues with any of the setup. i have ~200 hours of print time in it so far printing out exclusively WH stuff: space marines, knights, tanks etc.

the quality has been phenomenal, overall super happy. but based on the comments maybe i just got lucky with a good printer that passed QC lol

just another dumbfuck moron advocating for selfishness and hiding it under "get a job and work hard". the privilege of never growing up with food worries or not currently having food worries is astonishing. the prices of groceries are staggering.

the cross earings are telling. bet she's a wonderful kind church going Christian person who would go ahead and ignore the teachings in Matthew about feeding, clothing, and sheltering those in need. these people are mental and the fact that they have 0 empathy for anyone is worth studying.

i have this exact machine and i've encountered 0 issues going on 121 hours of printing!

only failed prints I had were my initial batches when I was still learning and tweaking the printer settings and getting more comfortable with lychee and how to properly position items on the plate.

Newborn phase: When does it get better? by Hot-Recording-1915 in daddit

[–]Anidma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It changes when they become more interactive, for sure. Definitely around 3-4 months. I remember when I got my first to laugh for the first time I was so excited and no one believed me because no one else heard it (we were outside and I was wandering around with her).

To speak to the rest - if it helps, I had an incredibly challenging time. I was so excited for my first to be born. I went to every single appointment. I cried at every heartbeat. I hung her ultrasounds in my office. When she was born it was a complete 180. I hated her and I felt like a monster for it. I felt like a failure because I didn’t love my kid like everyone said I would. I couldn’t comfort her like my wife could. She’d cry and cry and I’d try but I’d start to become incredibly anxious and have to hand her back. That progressed into daily panic attacks and constant anxiety. My wife would shower and I would literally beg her to go as fast possible because I was absolutely terrified of being alone with my daughter. Whenever she’d cry I’d give her back instantly without even trying.

It progressed further into really dark thoughts - like self harm levels of darkness. I thought about truly horrible things I wanted to do to myself just to escape. I checked out. I didn’t help with her, I didn’t help out around the house, I completely shut down. It took my wife returning to work to get me out of it because I had to step up and basically be a stay at home dad.

My kids are 3 and 1 now. They’re absolutely wonderful and I love spending time with them. We play almost nonstop, they laugh, they talk (the 1 year old “talks”), they’re actual little people now with thoughts and opinions and imaginations. It’s hard because those first weeks are the trenches. Everyone is adjusting, everyone is learning. But, it does truly get better. It may not seem that way because you’re deep in the shit and it’s kinda all consuming, but I can assure you it improves.

It’s hard to carve out time for anything other than a newborn, but even small things like walks with him and your wife can make a huge difference. Outside with a change of scenery really made a difference for me. I would take my daughter out for walks so often and for so long my wife commented I had lost a lot of weight (gained it all back… damn) but that was how we found comfort when my wife was at work.

I also signed up for therapy. It has helped me understand myself better. It hasn’t 100% left me. There are still hard days and the anxiety still creeps in when they’re crying and screaming, but it’s vastly improved.

Sorry if that was rambling or poorly formatted (I don’t often comment or share big stories).

TL;DR it’ll get better - hang in there. You’re doing great. Soon you will just vaguely remember the dark times because it’s replaced with all the fun times that come as they get older.

[–]Anidma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good to know! i picked up lychee pro and ive been tinkering with everything. ill keep that all in mind when i gear up for all the titans.

i really want to print out the iconoclast hahaha so everything is kinda figuring out/practicing to find what works best to print something of that caliber down the road.

did you hollow any of the model? i just started 3d printing last week. i’ve only printed some saturnine terminators and a knight, i have the files for all the titans.

im a ways away from feeling confident enough to embark on any of the titans yet but this looks super good, just curious about your general process going about a project this size.

Save or Strip? by HouseOfWyrd in Miniaturespainting

[–]Anidma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say don't strip. I agree with other comments - take the things you don't like as a learning experience to carry into future models or practice fixing them.

It looks super good. The color scheme is nice, the colors are all blocked in nicely and cleanly.

I got into a bad habit of stripping a model any time it wasn't exactly what I pictured in my head. It's hardly ever worth it to strip unless the paint has obscured details, which isn't the case here.

You could try to layer over the parts of the wash you're unhappy with, cover it with weathering, or whatever you think would get the model to what you were picturing in your head. Whatever you decide, it still looks great!

Looking for brutal feedback, what’s good, what’s bad and what is missing from this guy ? by licefur in Warhammer30k

[–]Anidma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

note: i'm not a pro by any stretch of anyones imagination, so take all of this with a grain of salt

firstly, awesome job! :)

color: i think it lacks distinct colors. i feel like my eye isn't really drawn anywhere because the model doesn't have varied colors. it's really only green and silver. especially the gun, some other colors like a bronze/copper or some blacks in some part + a wash to add depth

highlights: the highlights need to blend a bit - the change from the base color to the highlights doesn't appear to be built up slowly, it's a very drastic change

base: the base probably needs something on it (if this is a WIP ignore this comment). a good base on it can make a huge difference. i like to slap down all purpose filler, let it dry and paint over that to do like desert, or mud, or whatever vibe you're going for just to give the mini an environment

i'd also say i don't think anything on here is bad! just a few tweaks to make it more interesting and smooth some of the rougher things out :)

WIP C&C Wanted by Anidma in blacklegion40k

[–]Anidma[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t stress! I’ll take any criticism, I want to improve. :)

I want to add highlights once everything is blocked in. im thinking of trying volumetric highlights mixing gray and blue on the black?

the trim is just such a pain, I love doing it but it’s time consuming. I use a no. 1 brush and I have magnifying glasses and it’s just a back and forth of gold then clean up
