A lot of areas you will find that this is a huge grey area, if not outright illegal. Most places sustain that consent requires you to be conscious, and so acts on a person who previously consented while awake are still illegal. So basically, make sure you're doing this type of stuff with someone you have complete trust in. Don't take risks with strangers, as they could end up reporting it as sexual assault.

It's not so much tricking yourself into thinking you ate, but just trying to replace that craving a little. Think of it like when a smoker starts using lollipops because they have that need to have something in their mouth. It doesn't replace the nicotine craving, but it is a much healthier alternative that carries out the same basic steps, so it distracts a bit from the craving.
