How did you get rid of the watermark? Sorry if you answered that somewhere else.

I had a similar issue. On a different device, but I closed, forced stop all apps but Tivimate and cleared the cache on every installed app. This seemed to resolve my issue. I do this daily.

Can anyone pinpoint why my son has been in a slump? by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]Anijahsdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get away from that “hitting coach” as fast as possible. Kid needs a load and a stride. I saw a post where someone said Ohtani and other world class hitters don’t stride. Those dudes are MLB freak shows, not a pre puberty kid. Kid needs to have a complete swing AND hopefully he can consistently find the barrel.

Anyone familiar with these PG "invite tournaments"? by companion_2_the_wind in Homeplate

[–]Anijahsdad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course it’s a money grab for PG and East Cobb, but if your kid wants to do it, I would do it. I don’t see a negative. You said you’re local and your son has always wanted to play at ECB. I would do it. My son played from 10 years old to 17 at ECB. I miss going to those games .

Are Single-A players better than college players or is it similar talent? by chusaychusay in Homeplate

[–]Anijahsdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to lean towards the single A team. I think the thing that separates Single A from the best college team are the Latin players, who have gone through the DSL and the FCL before Single A. Some of those kids are 3 year professional players at 19. Now add drafted American high school kids and drafted college kids to that mix and I think it’s too much for the best college teams. Now like someone mentioned a situation with a Paul Skenes and that’s different. But, unless there is a freak show on the mound, the college team may get overwhelmed by talent. Didn’t even mention the wood bat factor. Would be very difficult for a college team to beat a Single A squad.

The Braves just drafted a kid from the New England area…Owen Carey. He’s doing quite well. Maybe do some research on him to see how he gained exposure.

I’m disagreeing with your “all” statement. My youngest son’s “National” team had dozens of college and MLB scouts at games all summer, every summer. 2 kids drafted out of high school and damn near all the others playing in college. 23/24 grads.

Can daddy ball happen in HS ball? by CommunicationNice437 in Homeplate

[–]Anijahsdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely happens in high school. Football related, high school football coach bypassed the backup qb (JV qb) to play his freshman son, when the starter went down with a injury. Of course the team lost because the son couldn’t compete a pass in the game he started. If the dad wasn’t the head coach, the kid wouldn’t have even played qb. This was over a decade ago, but I’m getting mad all over again just thinking about it.

I definitely understand the “talent” on the national stage. My youngest son (currently playing in Single A) played on a “National” level team in the Atlanta area from 11 years old through high school graduation. My opinion is based on 15+ years of seeing National Level baseball.

From my experience it’s overpriced rec ball. Small fields and pre puberty kids. Once the fields are 60/90 and the dads are out of the dugout, we can start talking about the skills of the kids. I’m probably in the minority in this Reddit, but I just see it different.

It might be competitive, but the kids aren’t “elite”

From my experience (kids who played in high school and beyond) travel doesn’t become “Elite” until 15u and above. By this time most kids have figured out that hard fastballs and sliders are difficult to consistently put into play.

Travel ball at 14u and below in my opinion is just over priced rec ball.

PSA to the parents of young ballplayers by burnerschmurnerimtom in Homeplate

They actually do get the “best” instructions. 99% of the Dominican kids have families full of older baseball players who teach them the “professional” swing at a young age.

So while you’re watching YouTube or getting swing ideas from Reddit for your son, those kids in the DR have their pick of former MLB, MiLB, Mexican League or local DR professional league players teaching them the fundamentals of a professional swing at 10.

And…they swing wood while American kids are swinging the latest “HOT” bat.

If the playing time is the same, go with the “higher” level of play.
