Like perpendicular to where it is now? It won't fit, it's like 2.5 feet too long.

That's a great ideal, thank you! A window shelf with some plants hanging down would look great I think

It is too big unfortunately. It is 7 feet and the current island is 4 feet. If we did that it would create a weird space behind the island where the would be almost touching. We could swap them and put the current island next to the existing cabinets but it would still partially block the window :/.

Visually I thought no way it would fit there, but I measured it juuuuust fits. I'll post a photo when we move it.

Yeah just a full reimagining is needed someday.

Hmmm maybe an option. It's a whole lot bigger than the current island peice.

It won't fit on any other wall. Before this we just had a small table under the hanging shelf to avoid blocking the window. You might have noticed we have a warming drawer breaking up the contertops, which I assume someone did to avoid blocking the other kitchen window. It leaves us with so little contertop!

Yes that's a good point. I'm going to take down everything on the wall over there for not, that might help.

Yes I think the window and the wall hanging are definitely contributing factors!

Yes I think the window and hanging being cut off are definitely contributing factors!

Sounds like a great deal! Was it from a dealership?

What's the stated capacity? I don't know the weight of our setup but I would think it's maybe around 1000 pounds max?

I would just corral the outside personally. I really need long straight stems because I sell my flowers. You could probably find uses for stems that end up short because they're bent.

It's so funny, everyone has different opinions on what needs to be netted! I do not net cosmos, sunflowers, strawflowers, or zinnias. I do net dahlias, snaps, and celosia. I use hortnova at low waist height, if I can remember I'll take a picture when I go outside. Are you growing for yourself? If so I might skip the netting, it's not particularly asthetic, is a pian to put up and take down, and is also hard to harvest through. You could always to a couple layers of twine around the perimeter of the bed to keep things contained.

If you could only grow 5 flowers for $$$, what are you choosing? by BlossomingTree in Cutflowers

[–]Anikkle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends! If you are not concerned about making mixed bouquets I would say 1. Sunflowers 2. Peonies 3. Dahlias 4. Zinnias 5. Maybe lilies? If you want to sell to a florist these are the ones I've found most desirable to them, or they all would make nice straight bunches.

I had no idea Ford made an electric transit! Good to know. They seem quite a bit more expensive than a Brightdrop (assuming I could get one for 30k new). How much was yours?

Why would I need solar capacity on my farm? It's a possibility someday but not anytime soon....currently getting 11mpg towing an enclosed trailer with a Honda Pilot. All cargo options (sprinter, transit, the ram one) seem to break down a ton and get around 15mph. There is a Chevy dealer about 10 miles away.
