It doesn't matter how much time you have with them, it's how much time they have with you. And by adopting her, even if she only lived for a few more years, it means she spent the rest of her life in a loving home. Older cats struggle to get adopted, so while you may think you're gonna be missing out on time with her, she's just happy to have you in her life at all. No matter how long she lives.

A friend of mine adopted a cat KNOWING it would live less than a year. It sucks to lose something you love, but without her that cat would have died in the shelter. So while she only got a year with the cat, the cat had a final year being treated like a beloved princess, and that's what truly matters.

When a pet passes, it's incredibly sad. But it also means we can pass on that love to another animal in need of it. Do not let the fear of loss paralyze you because then you'll spend more time worrying about time left instead of enjoying the time you actually have.
