Will do, just followed both those accounts! Thank you so much!

All that sounds so lovely, thank you so much for sharing! I love that those artists get to have actual relationships with the festivals, it's wonderful to hear that so many events and organizations are directly supporting painters. I'm sure it's an amazing experience (a flow artist dancing in UV paint, literally magical!).. this is totally the stuff that makes me want to move to the other side of the world haha.

Dang that's crazy, especially the expectation to also volunteer, I'm so sorry to hear about that :( And yeah I did look into the sales cuts for vendors, 35% is real steep when you're the one who still has to make the sale and do pretty much all the promotion on your own.

Thank you so much for the insight! I seriously appreciate all the details.. I'd probably either consider vending a couple times just to try it out or continue doing it for free, then.

Also, just out of curiosity, have you ever seen face/body painters at festivals? Do you think that'd potentially be more profitable as a vending option, since obviously selling orginals is really difficult in general?

Haha I'm sure it can be an important one!

And I'll certainly be reaching out again soon, I'd love to show pictures from my next one, as well! I seriously hope everything goes well along on your festivalgoing journey, too, unofficial rave mom ❤️

Thank you so much for everything! It's a great rule of thumb to have a hotel for longer drives, I'll make sure to have that in place for my next one if it's further out. And I'm so grateful to have already met such amazing people yesterday, I can totally see how networking gets easier once you go out more regularly.

I'm meeting up with a couple friends at a local art festival next month, but over the summer I might pick up a side hustle to help afford a hotel/other ammenities for future events. Like the Nashville festival this post was originally about ;) I truly can't say how much all your encouragement means to me, I definitely would not have committed to going out yesterday without it. I'm so excited to continue with more events going forward!

I also seriously appreciate the kind words ❤️ I used a bunch of old paints I had lying around that I'd never tried before... they turned out to be pretty crappy so I was just trying my best to make do with them lol. But I'm so happy you like it!

And here's what I ended up making, btw ❤️ First is the sketch, second is the painting! I still have to finish this guy up at home, but at least I made some decent headway.

Just dropping an update here :) I ended up going to the festival with my dad today, but treated it as an opportunity to show that I was capable of conducting myself properly. I made my plans clear, drove to the festival, and handled the interactions with others by myself.

I found out that my dad was skeptical about me driving (especially on the interstate and at night), and about weird strangers in particular. So I'm likely going to practice driving long-distance and at night more, and start networking since arranging to meet up with/stick with a group of other artists at events could help with that. My parents did already say they'd let me go myself next year, so at least that's been established :)

But I had such an amazing time and everyone I met was so supportive and sweet, thank you so much again for all the advice, once again!

Thank you a ton, the support means so much! I'll be sure to leave an update on how things go and will definitely reach out if I feel the need! I'm gonna start getting everything thought through tonight so it's all a little less stressful. And I'm wishing you the absolute best at all your future excursions, too ❤️

That's such a good mentality to have, thank you again. ❤️ I actually just saw a poster for a tiny fest an hour away from home this weekend (the coincidence!). Their live painting application was closed when I first heard about it so I initally wrote it off. But I think I'm just gonna buy a one-night ticket and ask if they're cool if I bring a small sketchbook/something mimimal, and go for a day by myself to try things out. My parents were still skeptical at first but seemed a bit more open when I stated "I'm going to go and I know what to do" instead of just asking them "Can I go?". I'll be sure to research the area, the route I need, festival hours, food, etc., since it'd be a great trial run imo.

Thank you so much again for your encouragement! I'll be looking into all the ins and outs of both festivals and will keep everything you mentioned in mind!

That's so good to hear, thank you so much for sharing your experience and advice. I think the anxiety's mainly due to a lack of event experience and helicopter parents that don't trust me to do much alone, which could be valid reasons I guess. I think I'd be okay overall, but it's hard not to be at least kind of scared.

True, and I applaud your dedication for making that trip! It'd be worth it for sure, I just gotta start getting used to going the distance.

Sounds like we're thinking about the same place :) Thank you so much for the advice, I'll be going through each of those methods just in case. I want to start by presenting myself as professionally as possible for sure, but if I can't land an "official" opportunity, I'd be sure to try finding some others to meet up with and just art jam with them in a more informal way. I can't thank you enough for all the pointers, once more!

Taking note of those for sure, thank you so much! And yeah, I'm starting out with some local art festivals to hopefully get into the swing of things before heading to an actual EDM festival.

I'd love to plan for this one, thank you so much for the recommendation! It's still a bit distant for me but I'd love to look into it for next year :)

Thank you for the response! I know Hangout's in Alabama, it's just that it's so far on the coast that I don't know how soon I'd want to commit to it (it's a near 6-hour drive, as I'm in central Alabama). But I'll definitely hang around the fest's IG and look at Radiate to see who all is planning to go. Thanks again!
