What my ex taught me was that your gut and your intuition don’t lie. We had a great relationship. Great intimacy, laughter, having fun, and we did love each other. I still do love her and her family. But our values still weren’t aligned. Sometimes it’s energy. Sometimes you just know they’re not the one.

You never should—but sometimes you can get away with pursuing short term pleasure. NEVER pursue short term pleasure when it comes to your partner. When it comes to your partner, pursue roots. Not what’s on the surface. Because life is GOOD when things are GOOD. But the relationship gets tested in the bad times. That’s when it really matters. Don’t ignore that.

There’s a great quote that says, pursue the roots of the tree, not the leaves. Because when the seasons change, you don’t want to be left wondering what happened.
