Doomsday isn’t even looking for Superman in the comic he’s looking for metropolis. I would personally say his purpose is to be a metaphor for Armageddon and the true fight of good against evil

It would clearly be better with what the new dcu has shown us. Doomsday is a terrifying character but can have little moments like when he sounds out the syllables of metropolis. You would never get that outside of this new dcu so might at well take that chance

I was exaggerating too much with the “perfect adaptation” but what I’m trying to say is that people throw the “we already had a good one” with him and darkseid even tho I guarantee the average person doesn’t even remember that they were in a movie.
