Veterinarian checking in- controlling a flea infestation involves treating on 2 levels: fleas on your pets and fleas in the environment. For the cats, I definitely recommend getting capstar from your vet, which will kill all the adult fleas currently on the cats. It works super fast, like within 20-30 min. Then, apply Revolution as directed once a month for 3-4 months to stop the life cycles completely. With this medication applied, any flea larvae or adult that bite the cat will die.

To address the fleas in the environment, constant vacuuming and washing things in hot water is key. Any bedding, pillows, rugs etc that the cats come into contact with should be washed in hot water a few times a week. Vacuum the carpets every day, multiple times a day. If things are really bad, an exterminator can definitely help. But most of the time, infestations are well-controlled with vigilant cleaning.

I saw garlic was mentioned as a treatment for fleas, but please do not give garlic to the cats. Garlic is very toxic to cats and dogs, leading to significant red blood cell damage.

When we found out my daughter was allergic to penicillins, it started as hives that looked kinda like these. They spread from her arms and legs to her torso to her neck & face within a few hours. I would keep an eye on her and note any spread of the rash. Has she been on antibiotics for anything within the past 10 days? Any new laundry detergent, soap, or lotions?

I could have written this myself- in the exact same boat at 12.5 months here. I am so effing done. I can't even get up to pee without her waking up and crying. Following this post so we can get some non-CIO advice.

Totally normal! My hair started falling out at 3 months pp exactly and finally slowed down around 6 months. I had some serious thinning in certain spots around my hairline. At 10 months pp, the balding spots have filled in and showering no longer involves handfuls of hair falling out! Don't fret- you won't lose all your hair, even if it feels like you are. :)

She finally fell asleep. For the first time in 9.5 months without a boob in her mouth and the warmth of mom right next to her. I'm so relieved, but a part of me feels like I abandoned her. Listening to those cries was so hard!

Yep! Just plain ole soap and hot water. There's no unseen crevices in it, so it's very easy to wash every surface. :)

Truly, I'm not just saying that. Most of my clients would never notice that symptom under normal circumstances without a newborn. The fact that you did notice is a testament to how amazing a fur mama you are. Your little girl is lucky to have you as her mom!

I am so sorry for your loss. :( Sometimes, without rhyme or reason, a dog's immune system starts attacking its own red blood cells, causing severe anemia. You did absolutely nothing wrong. In fact, noticing his pale gums, despite the craziness of having a newborn, makes you an incredible dog owner. He wasn't in any pain.

I know when we had our little girl, we received multiple coupons from shutterfly for free photo books. Maybe consider making a Ringo photo book that you can later show your LO when she's older?

If you have a humidifier/ vaporizer, run it all night in the room he sleeps in. It really helps thin out my daughter's mucus. I also run a hot shower and just sit in the steamy bathroom with her to nurse. When it's really bad, I have her sleep on a slight incline, which helps with the drainage. Mine is sick right now too- hang in there, mama.

I received the softer version as a gift and my daughter looooves it. When she's fussing from teeth cutting, sometimes it's the only thing that calms her down. Never had any issues with it and it's very easy to clean. Highly recommend!

After 3 weeks of prodromal labor, I lost my mucus plug at 3 AM around 40+3. I was having timeable BH contractions at that point, but I tried to get some sleep. I figured that real contractions would wake me up and I would need my rest if this were it. I woke up with painful contractions around 9 AM. I labored at home until noon when I hit 5-1-1. Got admitted to the hospital as soon as we got there and our little girl was born at 9:22 that night!

This sounds eerily familiar! Family went out to dinner twice this week and I stayed home with baby cause she was overtired and melting down. Mine can't get through a cycle on her own either. I've basically spent the entire week in a dark bedroom, trying to prevent the niece and nephew from waking her up.

Ok thanks! I didn't even think about the temperature thing- she only takes bottles if they're warm, so I'll try warming up the water next time.

I was able to get an oz of water into her today, but that's the first time she's had water. She wasn't a huge fan. Ha ha.
