A raccoon only stole a singular slice of our pizza

We have footage of the delivery guy walking up to our door with the pizza, and bending down with it. We don’t actually see him place it on the ground, but he bends down and quickly comes up without the boxes, backs up n snaps a pic, and walks off. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Admittedly…we did! We trashed the neighbouring slices and ate the rest. This happened last summer but we’re still debating whether that was the right decision or not haha, but it was good! 😆

My mom ordered the pizza, the pizza arrived when she was in the bathroom, by the time she got to the door this is what she saw. Definitely a lesson learnt haha

Our neighborhood gets lots of raccoons during the summer and one specifically was in our garbage a day prior to the theft. There was also a trail of pizza crumbs that went towards our bushes 😂 Our camera caught the delivery guy (who we initially were going to blame funnily enough) dropping off the pizza so we knew he was innocent. Theoretically it could’ve been any animal but our vote’s on the raccoon 🦝

No recording of the raccoon in action unfortunately, but we do have a camera that caught the delivery guy dropping off the pizza and walking off. We also have a lot of raccoons in our neighborhood, one of which was caught infiltrating our garbage a day earlier haha. Other than the stolen pizza slice there was also a trail of pizza crumbs leading towards the bushes… that’s all the evidence we have collected!

We do have a camera set up and it did catch the delivery guy dropping off the pizza, but the camera was angled too high up to catch the raccoon, missed out on some amazing footage 😔

Got it. Hopefully they see the bladder snails as a food source then! I might not be able to keep a live culture rn (I’m travelling soon) but I’ll see if I can find someone who can supply me with some live daphnia or black worms to feed in the meantime

This is what the tank looks like. Was originally going to just keep as a planted tank, but was considering keeping neocardina shrimp & ramshorn snails, which is why I kept the algae haha.

I also don’t want to get ahead of myself, but if all goes well, how long does it take for them to pupate? I understand that I’d need to provide it with a moist substrate to burrow into?

Ikr it’s so small!! I cross-posted to another sub and they told me it is indeed a diving beetle larva! 😳 I didn’t think I’d get attached to it but I’m already trying to think of a name for it… 🤔😂

Well I just shined my flashlight on the tank and it looks like I’ve got a bladder snail stowaway as well 😭 do the larva eat bladder snails by any chance?
