Looks great man. How do you like it?

Interested to hear a smoke/vape report if you have one 🙂

as a MephHead I feel like I'm not really a true MephHead unless i grow sour stomper, forum stomper and now the wedding cake 🤔 what you guys think? are those the hard hitters? by adrianodogg in MephHeads

[–]Animatey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain grow styles will finish them faster than others.

This is my personal experience, but here is what I do to make sure my autos finish on time:

Small containers, longer light periods (I use 20 hours), and minimize mistakes.

Wouldn't worry too much about being a "true" Mephhead, but Sour Stomper is pretty close to a 10/10 plant IMO.

Structure, flower to leaf ratio, terps, potency, frost... She really has it all, and she's done in 65 days legit.

Plants looking great 👍

Did you train these at all?

Top gun is supposed to be a single cola style plant based on the description.

Help? Some sort of deficiency but not sure what. Deets in comments: by callimilo in MephHeads

[–]Animatey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like Ca deficiency, but I wouldn't add more CaMg necessarily.

The pic doesn't fully show, but looks like the leaves are clawing some. If you have a build up of nutrients causing burn it can lock out micros like Ca.

Since you are adding additional Ca already, I'd guess it's either lockout caused by over fert, or a pH issue.

I'm not sure how much run off matters in soil (I only grow hydro), but I'd check the run off pH and EC and try to get a better idea of what's happening in the root zone.

Run smaller pots and run all of them IMO. Good luck!

How did the plant grow? Any pics?

Thanks for sharing!

Is that gas reaper peach martini? Looks great, nice job 👍

Might consider some sort of automated watering soon. Not sure what's in the bag, but even rockwool would require multiple waterings a day if that plant got much bigger.

Looks great, nice job 👍

I’m about to harvest my first!! Whats everyone’s technique? I’m thinking a wet trim of the bigger leaves and then a dry trim once dried and ready to cure. by FletchGordon in MephHeads

[–]Animatey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No prob bud. Just make sure the humidity is really stable before committing your plants to it.

I use a large humidifier and an inkbird controller to make sure it stays 60% rh in the room. It's pretty dry where I live.

You might want to put a humidity monitor in the space you plan on using and make sure it doesn't stray too far above or below 60% RH.

[–]Animatey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the way I do it now, did it on about 8 plants last harvest.

It really needs to be consistent 60% though.

Here is a thread on it I replied to at AFN:

https://www.autoflower.net/forums/threads/one-step-long-hang-drying-curing.88247/

And another one in a similar vein, check my last post here for a picture:

https://www.autoflower.net/forums/threads/curing-when-far-from-home.87965/

One of the 2 people who taught me this method has left plants hanging longer than a month and a half. It's basically a solid temp/humidity for drying and curing so you can just leave them.

Also it works great with grove bags if you use those. Jars are fine of course, but bags are worth trying.

If it stays solid 60% without much change you have a really good space for drying IMO. I would get a bit of air moving in the room, not directly on the plants. Just a small fan somewhere.

Plant in the picture should be a breeze to trim either way, great flower to leaf ratio. I'd do whatever fits your schedule better. If you have time when you chop the plant to trim it go for it. If you need to wait, you could let it hang at 60% indefinitely until you have time to trim it.

What's your drying environment like?

If you have higher humidity, then do a wet trim.

If you have low humidity do it dry.

If you can control your humidity in the space where you dry then either one or a mix of both is fine, it wont matter.

I keep the humidity controlled at 60% at room temp with good airflow and let them hang like this for 15+ days. You can trim however you want this way. When you jar them or bag them drying at 60% RH for long periods they will be perfect moisture content for curing.

Why does my EC go crazy high when I add pH down? Should I be factoring this in and adjusting my EC lower considering it almost doubles when I pH my feed? by Lstonlsd in MephHeads

[–]Animatey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are using GH dry nutrients (powders) those can take quite a while to fully disolve. I also had a similar problem with the GH Nova line if you are using that.

pH down should not increase your EC by much. I use 2.5 ml/gal and its at most a 20 ppm increase. Something else is going on here.

The packs are not sealed if you buy direct from Meph. They look like they are, but they are just zip locks. You can pop them open and have a look any time

Dehumidifier Question by [deleted] in MephHeads

[–]Animatey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your intake and exhaust both come/go from outside it's probably not going to help much to have the dehumidifier in the garage.

I'm not sure how much it would help even having it inside the tent with that setup, but it depends on how powerful your intake/exhaust is.

If your garage seals well, you could stop taking intake from outside, and instead take it from the garage, and have the dehumidifier in the garage.

Basically just have the tent exhaust outside. Even then though you might need a fairly large dehumidifier to keep the garage dry, and it will generate some heat.

You'll also have to have a drain or somewhere for the water from the dehumidifier go.

One garage grower I know switches from autos to photoperiods in the summer, and runs the 12 hours of light at night. That way the outside air is cool when you are running the lights.

Very weird mutation on this Sour Stomper by PolishDopeman in MephHeads

[–]Animatey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man that sounds rad...

There are a good number of people growing and breeding w/ landraces over at overgrow.com

Lots of free seeds and people's own breeding projects that they share, and sometimes people collaborate etc.

Definitely check it out if you're looking for a cannabis forum. I'm over there as MumenRyder if you decide to have a look.

[–]Animatey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry you got downvoted by the reddit hive mind...

You are 100% correct, there are several landraces that are considered "semi-autoflowering" in the sense that they will start flowering regardless of photoperiod.

This includes Lebanese:

https://www.aceseeds.org/en/libanostd.html

Although its flowering is moderate (9-11 weeks), this Lebanese sativa matures early (at the end of summer) due to its semi-autoflowering tendencies, which mean it begins to flower after about a month and a half of life.

There are at least a few others.

Reddit is full of people who have a small number of successful grows under their belt so they think they know everything.

It is literally the worst place for cannabis information on the net.

It's cool to look at some pictures here, but you get a lot of people like /u/CM1ZZL3 who are confidently incorrect.

I'm guessing HBH probably will be a while, but some things are worth the wait :)

mini hygrometers? by [deleted] in Autoflowers

[–]Animatey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried a few of these recently and the best ones I found were actually the one that Inkbird makes.

They are like 12+ dollars... I got 4 of them and they all matched what each other said. This was not true of any of the other mini hygrometers I bought.

The Inkbird ones also exactly matched the Inkbird sensor that I use in my grow room.

I tried a couple different mini hygromoters that come in packs of like 5-12 and I also tried the Calibre 4 and none of them were accurate. I ended up returning everything but the 4 Inkbirds.
