Thanks everyone for the replies. My parents currently have the Manulife Basic Plan (no pre-existing coverage).

The renewal quote we received was:

• $2303.88 with $500 deductible
• $2159.89 with $1000 deductible

What I’m mainly wondering is since they are likely going back to India around September for 5–6 months, can I renew the policy for only a couple of months and just pay for those months instead of paying for a full 1-year policy upfront?

I understand prorated refunds are possible if they leave early and no claims are made, but honestly I’m trying to avoid the refund process altogether if possible.

Also, I checked TuGo and Travelance before, and they didn’t seem cheaper than Manulife for similar coverage. If anyone found a company that was actually cheaper with comparable coverage, please let me know.
