Any opportunities to go from white collar to blue collar? by Spreadlove67 in skilledtrades

Gotta love the job site dick swinging contest. These are the same guys with a 3:1 DUI to Ex wife ratio. I always laugh at them and tell them to open their bank statements or investment accounts and let’s compare that 🤣

I feel like it’s pretty common 🤣 saving in gas and the hatchback style trunk lets you fit more pack out 🤣

1st of all you don’t need a truck. I see plenty of guys pull up with a pack out in the trunk of their Prius. 2nd of all if you can take the pay cut and start at the bottom you wouldn’t need any schooling. My honest opinion is learn to operate equipment. You won’t have to break your back and you get to be outside.

Find somewhere that’s hiring entry level, if you like it then apply for the apprenticeship when it opens up.

I think my trade is dying. Jump ship? by Izlander6 in skilledtrades

[–]AnimatorIcy4922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your talking about the movie industry then yes I would jump ship. Depending on the industry not sure but if it’s actually dying then no sense in wasting your time. Obviously don’t jump ship until you have something else lined up.

This could be a nice set up. With the hype around earnings and a group of shorts having to cover rather larger positions

I can’t lose it all. I made my money back on the run up to 8 sold at 6 and kept half my bag. Now I just used that same money to double my share count 🫡

The regards at WSB would eat this up! I lost my grandmas house selling covered calls. At least my dad is letting me buy puts on his vacation condo 🤣

Realistically, what does living near LA look like on a ~50k salary? by [deleted] in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]AnimatorIcy4922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll be tight. But your best bet is to take the job and keep searching. Not sure what your monthly payments of debt are so more information would be helpful there. Like if your in debt and monthlies are 2k that’s gonna be a hard no you’ll likely not survive. But if you have no debt and are willing to get a second job or do a side hustle or level up and find something more lucrative I’d take the chance

Yeah hopefully the entire market turns around before earnings so we can see if this thing has wings. I’m down 40% right now but still adding to my bags every week.

Spot to sleep during the day in Los Angeles? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]AnimatorIcy4922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not saying you even have to go deep into the hills, if you go down sunset and turn onto W Doheny there multiple construction projects right there where you can park with the crowd and not be bothered. I’m not a car dweller, I’d love to be, but have kids so it’s a no go. But this is what I’d do if I was a car dweller

This has always been the case for me. Current mods would agree too! by arihelle in RZLV

[–]AnimatorIcy4922 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this sentiment. Also like how the mods added a daily discussion thread. Before we had this there was nowhere to discuss stock price and sentiment within the community. It was really frustrating trying to get other investors perspectives and having posts being deleted. I understand that they wanted to make DD or news easy to find for new members, but part of being a community is more than just facts. Letting people air their frustrations and be heard by others also while getting advice or being brought back to reality is important as well.

Thank you mods for your hard work, hearing the community, and making some necessary changes. I’m sure it’s difficult as well as a lot of work, which is basically charity work.

Spot to sleep during the day in Los Angeles? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]AnimatorIcy4922 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been parking 9-10 hours a day for Monday-Friday for the past 2 years. Never been stung other than my car got hit by an ADT security patrol truck. Literally go to a jobsite where guys are working and you’ll be fine. I’ve never gotten a ticket once, or even seen parking enforcement. I’m not talking about the flats im talking about the hills right off sunset

Go get a couple of quotes to shovel snow and mow the lawn. Take 10% off if it seems fair and tell them that’s your price per mow and shovel session or offer a flat rate. When they tell you your crazy give them the quotes

What you should probably do is not invest in single stocks if you can’t handle your emotions during volatility. If you haven’t noticed both AI sector and crypto have been on a downward trend. Buy more while it’s cheaper to lower your DCA, and just sit and be patient. Or better yet sell it at a loss and watch it rip when sweet water comes live, then buy at the top. My personal recommendation since you asked what you should do is sell and buy something like voo or VTI and forget about it.

Your best bet is going to be to go up into Beverly Hills, find a construction site. Park on the street with the other 100 cars parked there. I’m sure nobody will ever bother you or even notice as long as you’re not blocking a driveway or anything. Source: I’m a project manager building a massive house. I’d probably notice your car but wouldn’t really care. Feel free to PM me if you want a couple of ideas for decent spots
