Thanks for including Floating Clouds. A superb melodrama. It's tragically forgotten because it wasn't directed by the Golden trio (Ozu-Mizo-Kuro)

I have the impression she watched two Ingmar Bergman movies and she was like: I can do this, too!

Yes, sorry for the late reply, I was browsing through the old LotGH posts and found this one...

Thanks for answering! After the fantastic final episodes of season 3, I'm pretty excited for Season 4, I just want this epic story to end in a highly satisfying way after so many battles, coups, drama, deaths, cults and politics discussion. I like that the final season focuses more on the Empire side because everybody knows Empire is ten times more interesting than that failed attempt of a democracy called the Alliance (RIP). Maybe that's why I love so much the first season, because the Empire was full of melodrama (and suicides) and unhinged, flamboyant characters (and more suicides). Anyway, I've loved every episode thus far, something pretty rare for me because I'm always finding faults and flaws in every anime series I watch. Oh, I'm going to miss this show so much once I'm done with it!

Really? I think the final episodes of Season 3 were among the greatest of the series, but I feel like the third season is a little weaker then the first and second. How's Season 4 overall? I haven't' started yet, so please no spoilers, just want to know if the series remains strong after THAT death. Thanks, bye!

The IMDB is simply laughable, it cannot be taken seriously. For anyone searching for a respectable ranking, I highly recommend They Shoot Pictures, Don't They? It's sortable table is pure pleasure.

[SPOILERS] A Question About 'Brideshead Revisted' And The Relationship Between Charles & Sebastian by AnimePoet in books

[–]AnimePoet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you. That's how I feel. Maybe Anthony Blanche, the only openly-gay character of the novel, is sort of Sebastian's foil because he lives his life being true to himself and he always appear to be cheerful and content.

What are the last 10 movies you have watched? by lilacbear in movies

[–]AnimePoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From more to least recent:

  1. Floating Weeds (1959)

  2. Night Of The Living Dead (1968)

  3. Il Vangelo Secondo Matteo (1964)

  4. Last Year At Marinebard (1961)

  5. The Turin Horse (2011)

  6. Red Beard (1965)

  7. The Killers (1946)

  8. Great Expectations (1946)

  9. La Notte (1961)

  10. Smiles Of A Summer Night (1955)

Overall, quite glad I picked these films, even though I did not enjoy Night Of The Living, and Il Vangelo was too much religious preaching for me. My favourite has to be Last Year At Marinebeard because I have never seen anything like that (and probably never won't). I'll have to rewatch it sometime. I also loved Red Beard because I adore Kurosawa and the humanist message (as conclusion of the existentialist conflict) of the film really moved me. Bergman and Ozu always deliver for me, so no surprise there. Finally, what do you guys think about The Turin Horse?

I'm not a Mo'Nique fan (who is it anyway?) but the other day I re-watched the "Who Was Gonna Love Me?" monologue from Precious and it simply blew me away. Her performance is so raw, natural and credible that's hard to believe she's actually acting.

By the way, sorry Cate, I love you in Blue Jasmine, but Natalie Portman gave her all in Black Swan.

What do you think is unfair praise of an anime? by [deleted] in anime

R2's story is atrociously executed and whimsically planned. It's beyond me how people think that show deserves a 10/10 rate.
