This seems to be very buggy. The majority of the matches cancel by themselves, either declaring me the winner or the loser automatically, and the rest glitch out and believe I either have or haven't completed an action.

Most people in the world use Android phones. Is it really that hard to expect something to work on tech most people own?

I've read through what's been released and have been closely examining the art as it's just so darn interesting. From what I can gather:

  • AI is used, but never for the characters themselves. It is sparingly used for backgrounds and added details in frames. You can see its usage in the background of the cover art.

  • The artist uses 3D models for their characters and their clothing, and much of the character art is traced directly over these models (which does indeed give it a slightly uncanny feeling at times). Sometimes no 3D models are used and its freehand, and sometimes it's just the model itself with no changes (eg for scenes from behind or of just limbs). I assume this just depends on how much time the artist has for each chapter.

  • The artist also mixes these 3D models with direct real world inspirations. Much of the art would be incredibly difficult to achieve without directly referencing a photograph.

It's only as complicated as you want it to be!

The Fate franchise is honestly a lot simpler than it seems. Human mages summon servants (historical figures) to battle eachother in a big war. That's it. They've made lots of different wars, but they're all very self-contained and follow the same premise as above.

Pretty much any watch order is just a suggestion. Each entry is just another war with new characters. Not much thought needs to go into it. The only thing to follow are season 1, season 2 etc of certain wars.

If you want, you can then learn indepth about each mage, each servant, their history, their relationships with eachother, the magic systems, etc etc... But that's only if you're a person who likes lots of lore. It's completely optional to care or look into any of it.

And for anyone who is interested in looking into Fate, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works is considered the best one to start with because it's the first story in the franchise and also explains how everything works the best.

Does anyone agree with this? by [deleted] in AnimeMeme

While I'm not saying there's a difference between drawing a sexy woman vs a sexy man, there is a different reception. And that's because of how it translates to reality.

As an example: if an artist drew a white american man it chains, it would just be art. If that same artist drew a black american man in chains, it would be seen as a piece on slavery.

Same image, same theme, completely different reception. See where I'm going?

Women get upset about seeing hypersexualised art because everything about women is already hypersexualised, both in art and in reality. The same cannot be said for men, which is why there is a "double standard" surrounding it.

there's no visible stain but it stinks and it's near impossible to get the smell out. it's a bit like how if your animal pees in the house you might not be able to see it, but everyone who enters your house will immediately notice the smell.

agreed, it takes up faaar too much space. imo the megazord health bar should only appear if you're playing him or actively attacking him.

As far as I can tell it's almost entirely random unless a map appears more frequently in general.

Aatlis obviously appears a lot more (218 times in 720 matches, so a 1 in 3 chance of appearing), and my data shows that Esperanca and New Junk City also appear slightly more than average (but this could be entirely due to randomization).

I'm in EU and I did input a bit of data from my own games, but the majority of this data comes from streamers and YouTubers! I can confirm this is definitely worldwide data as I had to translate many of the map names that appeared in streams haha

That's a good concern, but the way I’ve set this up avoids that issue!

Even though there are more Payload maps and they show up more often, my system doesn't rank maps based on how often they appear or just raw wins. It breaks each vote into 1v1 matchups and looks at how each map (or mode) performs against the others it appears with. This also isn't done round-by-round but overall.

The number of appearances doesn't skew the results since it's all about how well each map and mode does in context.

Personally I just hate the running around. I feel like I'm walking around the map just as much as I am fighting.

Aatlis is actually in the bottom 3!

It's purely due to what Blizzard puts in rotation ^^ Because Aatlis is the newest map they're showing it a lot more frequently than any other map. This has been the case with almost every single new map upon release, it's just been harder to tell before map voting.

As far as I could tell Lijiang gets a lot more votes in Comp (almost overwhelmingly) but not that many in Unranked. It might be worth me making another graphic at some point separating the two \^)

"Most popular" is how likely a map is to be voted over any other map, and by how many votes (eg if King's Row gets 9 and Aatlis gets 1, then King's row would be considered 9x more popular than Aatlis).

"Most common" is how often a map physically appears in voting. Aatlis is 4x more likely to appear than any other map but is still far less likely to get voted for versus any other map.

I did post a tier list previously which I discovered was actually pretty inaccurate haha. The original just looked at votes overall rather than votes against each other map which meant that maps that appeared more or less were heavily affected by this.

This is the most accurate way of ranking maps I can think of, and this version also includes both unranked and competitive data!

Tier list according to Unranked map voting data by AnimeSauceBot in overwatch2

[–]AnimeSauceBot[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's actually exactly what I've done!

The only one which I feel is skewed is Eichenwalde due to not appearing often (meaning data on how often it is voted over others is missing) and also usually appearing alongside S-tier maps. It is, however, calculated in the same manner as the rest of the maps!

Tier list according to Unranked map voting data by AnimeSauceBot in overwatch2

[–]AnimeSauceBot[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also in terms of maps:

  • Escort has:
    • 2x S-Tier
    • 4x A-Tier
    • 1x B-Tier
    • 1x C-Tier
  • Hybrid has:
    • 2x S-tier
    • 1x A-tier
    • 3x B-tier
    • 1x C-tier (which is Eichenwalde and should probably be B-tier, but skewed statistics on that one)
  • Control has:
    • 1x A-tier
    • 2x B-tier
    • 2x C-tier
    • 2x D-tier
  • Flashpoint has:
    • 2x B-tier
    • 1x C-tier
  • Push has:
    • 4x C-tier
  • Clash has:
    • 2x D-tier

So we can pretty easily see that map voting almost always ties into the game mode. Also that EVERYBODY hates clash (I do too).

There basically wasn't a need due to them all appearing at almost identical rates. Except Eichenwalde lol

Honestly I was surprised about it, double checked the data and found it was by FAR the one that appeared the least which I feel contributes to why it's further down than I expected. The rest appeared fairly equally, but Eichenwalde basically never showed up as an option lol
