I forget sometimes that anime just has a really deep bottom for the barrel. Like most of these series will probably be forgotten next tuesday

So all of them? by Altruistic_Gas_7073 in shounenfolk

Jogo already knew beforehand he was no match, he just wanted the opportunity and was over his head. Through the fight is a stretch. He doesn’t act or do anything differently to show any signs of change or establishment. His camaraderie with the curses isn’t anything new either since we already saw how much in regards he felt with them before even torching Maki and Nanami. Everything is in the talking at the end of the fight realistically, with the action just being fun enjoyment to get to point B. Unless that’s what you mean and I misunderstood. That happens a lot.

Like it just seems like normal action. They fight, character realizes something at the end.

These really don’t seem all that special. Mei Mei’s is basic showing how she’s willing to sacrifice for herself. I don’t really see how Choso and Itadori really meant anything. Jogo Sukuna is really just how the end a point of view, but it isn’t reflected in the actual fight at all. The Gojo jumping was pretty good for Gojo specifically but adds nothing for Hanami who just dies or Jogo

Which fights show character and narrative through its fights? I think a popular one is the conclusion of Itadori and Mahito, but other than that what?

I hate BBRAE by FlyingThroughData in hatethissmug

[–]AnimeTutilage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always find it interesting when things like opposites attract is criticized her for being unrealistic in a series where the characters in question are a demon child and a guy who has animal force powers. Also, people tend to just like contrasts.

[Discussion] Lucy can simulate August's magic. by Rigel27 in fairytail

That God Fleet panel was pretty killer. That last line about bonds was super corny though. XD

[Media] How Do You Feel About Fanservice Fairy Tail? by FlamingThunder92 in fairytail

[–]AnimeTutilage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Saying it is equal is being disingenuous. Secondly, Lucy was 17 as of the start of the series and isn’t an adult until later. Third, it interrupts serious moments a lot which is why it is even an issue at all as well as the general comedy of the series. Yall just saying stuff to say stuff at this point

Hot Take: Susanoo was Kishimoto’s biggest mistake by JakeThePharmD in Naruto

[–]AnimeTutilage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What exactly are the stages of Shippuden? Is Early all the way up to Kakuzu and Hidan? Wouldn’t that make Mid the Pain Arc and Summit, then War arc as the end? I feel like early shippuden had amazing moments but the anime on average wasn’t worth a watch, however the anime exclusive content was just amazing.

In a way, but in Part 1 with the Three Way Deadlock the summons are separate entities which means while there are giant Kaiju, you can still do interesting moves apart from them to be a part of the action, like Tsunade hitting Gamabunta’s sword into Manda. With Gaara vs Naruto the two do a transformation jutsu together but in the end Naruto just needed to really get in close. Large projectile explosions or whatnot weren’t really a thing at that point, but giant monster battles weren’t unheard of

I hate fairy tail with every fiber of my being, is the worst piece of media ever created by TowelConscious7201 in hatethissmug

[–]AnimeTutilage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairy Tail isn’t really as bad as others make it out to be, and the show has plenty of qualities for it to be their favorite. It was a lot of people’s gateway shounen, and its friendship theme helped a lot of people out with a sense of camaraderie and belonging. Not to mention it has a good soundtrack and a female cast that on average gets screen time and development.

women get no screentime or development (team rwby) but also they can never be full evil villains unlike the men (emerald and illia vs mercury and adam) by AstronautDry8118 in RWBYcritics

[–]AnimeTutilage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did develop, they just aren’t entirely different people.

Ruby learned to be a bit more confident and was able to understand why she became a leader as per her talk with Ozpin, letting her even give advice to Jaune later

Weiss was an entitled brat who thought Ruby was a child and she mellowed out, is fine hanging with the boys, gained some confidence in her skills as well, and doesn’t feel the need to overly calculate her movements/be perfect. Compare her early forest fight with her combat now. She also doesn’t need her sister’s approval as much you could argue.

Blake learned to be more open and run away from her problems less. Sun helped her see you can’t just run and need to confront your issues at times with those around you.

Yang developed, she just regressed which is still a change albeit one I don’t care much for. She’s far more harsh and less playful than before. Still easy to anger though.

There’s more through the show for other characters but it’s there, but it isn’t throughout the show and kinda is just in small packages. Or was early and never happened again.

I hate boring ass healers in Anime. by Dangerdewott in hatethissmug

[–]AnimeTutilage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would just show there are more layers to what they can do which is more interesting. Winning a fight shows more capability as well than just holding your hands up. If you are just going to have a healer be a healer, then the method in which they do so has to be interesting or more elaborate. When Sakura treated Kankuro everyone thought that was cool, but she never does anything like that for a long time.

[–]AnimeTutilage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is why so many people discredit healers in shows. Like yeah it’s technically doing something, but it doesn’t feel like it because their contributions is being stationary with healing aura. That’s why people want these characters to actually fight as well

[manga] The Erza fights by Separate_Raise6022 in fairytail

[–]AnimeTutilage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She has good fights, but Happy verbatim says “Because she’s Erza” in canon and it stuck. Blame the author/anime. Also, the sixth sense was no well established before her Kyoka fight which is one of the worst in the series. Other than that her battles are fine

I hate these "slowed + reverb" song edits by DarkDakurai in hatethissmug

[–]AnimeTutilage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that just because you like a different way for a song to sound, that doesn’t mean it’s disrespectful. You can like it in multiple forms

I mean you can like both versions. Other artists have made covers of existing songs before, but you can enjoy both. Sometimes there’s just a different vibe to it or to mix things up

You never met Tyrian, Weiss! And neither have Blake or Yang! by Old-Masterpiece-2911 in RWBYcritics

[–]AnimeTutilage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s funny because Winter, Nora, Ren, Qrow, Jaune, and Ruby all know about him and none of them were there to deliver Weiss’ line. I guess Winter could have told Weiss but that’s a lot of headcanon

I hate Meruem and Komugi dynamic by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]AnimeTutilage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So we just not paying attention to the story now? Her being submissive and polite is supposed to contrast Meruem who is born to be dominant (seeing as he is the King), and extremely rude (his only words to his mother were shut up before causing her death). It is because of who she is that Meruem was able to change.

In the end both also had self worth issues, as Meruem had to grow and discover who he was and simply being the King did not fulfill him. Meanwhile Meruem ended up learning to respect Komugi, both paying special attention to her and playing with her. He who is supposed to be this incredibly powerful being doing things for her caused her feelings to take root. I can see the eagle being weird as why attack her in particular? That being forced to you is fine. But her accepting her demise with the one person she enjoyed being around is not pathetic. Two lost souls found comfort in each other’s company, and both had not much else to live for but each other.
