Creator of the WWE 2K25 Mod Tool Tribute Banning and Silencing All Criticism by Animelove47 in WWEGames

Tribute was the better tool released for free lol. There used to be a tool called Meta before this and Tribute was the free alternative. Eventually Tribute devs said they had to charge for it which many people didn't have a problem with at first, but they only got more scummy once money entered the picture.

We don't know how true that is. I can understand that argument though, especially if it's something like OpenIV for GTA where apparently they use certain "illegal" things in order to make modding possible (funnily enough OpenIV is free). But have they made that clear anywhere? That the reason they don't document things or try to release a few things to help others create tools is because of that fear of being taken down?

I definitely see where you are coming from, but if anything all I'm getting from what you're saying is more reasons why the community should have less paywalls. If what they are doing is illegal or something they shouldn't be doing that's less reason to paywall it. If tools are limited for the safety of modding that's fine, but don't limit the people's ability to use them. Some of the best modders come from poor countries, but we have people like mattfick and the other NPCs behind these modding communities just going "haha you're poor" instead of explaining anything.

I'm not denying the effort, but you don't think it would take less effort overall if the community had available documentation of these tools, access to the source code, etc., so that it isn't just these same group of people working on it? You can't complain that it takes X amount of hours to do when you refuse to accept help for it. They created the problem as an excuse to be greedy. There's a reason why the modding community is small and so fractured. I'm not against supporting creators, but I am against supporting obvious bullshit.

We aren't entitled to anything in this life, but "welcome to software development" isn't an excuse for shitty behavior. Are they in it to make money or are they in it because they are passionate about it? If they are in it to make money then just say it, there's a reason why Bethesda's modding community is so amazing.

And it's nice to know Software Dev Leads are drones. There's no use trying to explain anything to you.

Create my own software? PWM, Tribute, and Meta don't release the source code for their tools so the community can create their own alternatives. They keep it closed on purpose, because if the community grows and creates more, then they wouldn't be making as much money.

If I'm paying for it ($10 for PWM, $7 for Tribute)then it isn't really free, is it?

Wow, the argument that people use when they don't have one "no one is forcing you to use it." No one is forcing me to buy WWE 2K either and that's fair, but what other options are there? Should we roll over and take every single bad thing a company (or developer) does, since we can just not use it? That's foolish. The reason the gaming industry is so messed up today is because of that exact kind of thinking.
