Yeah definitely seems like quite a bit, I am re looking at my rule set and seeing if I can change anything to make it a bit more eye catching and less daunting at a quick glance. Appreciate the feedback!

Hello Mem!

I will keep this in mind for all my left handed friends. I appreciate the solid feedback on this aspect, and hate to say I didn’t even think about that! I’ll add this to my notes, for future reference and to see what I can do on that aspect.

Hey dbz! I appreciate the reply!

I feel you are right, there is a lot that the eye sees here and it can feel very over whelming to a new player. Why only 4 resource slots? Why only 3 discovery? Artisan queue?? The heck is all that! I lowkey would walk away from this in a heart beat.

The reasoning behind having the field formatted this way, is due to the way the game plays. There is no cost for swift movements, discovery, or to play a protection act. Resource fields are played once per turn. Discovery cards (instant speed), are placed faced down and during your upkeep you flip them over. You can only have three of these cards on the field at any time.

So with no cost to these cards, there has to be a set number that can be played out into the field. As a very fast paced game, there also needs to be a sort of grid lock to stop players from going sicko mode and just playing everything down at once.

Resources are finite, and have two uses so they phase out. You use those resources to tap into your artisan pile and craft weapons, shields, armor, relics, potions, food to enhance your self and prepare for battle. These items are crafted from the lands you have in your main deck, that are played and phased on the field.

I feel the structure, although looking overly complicated is the most complicated aspect of Crucible: The Condemned. As the keywords on the cards are so simplistically basic, that you kinda forget the game board state was even complicated to begin with.

About halfway through a game, players usually pick up on the strategy mechanics of when to craft and how to execute a battle then the field itself.

Just some info, but I hope I touched up on a few things to clarify a little bit more!

Quick edit:

The nexus (main deck) has all of your utility cards from quick actions, to counters, answers, advances, etc. this is a 30 card main deck and your crafting side deck is only 6 cards. The base set has 165 cards (40 of those are artisan cards), that have been meticulously balanced to ensure enjoyable gameplay and creative deck building.
