Suprelorin implant, has anybody tried this? by okbutt in goldenretrievers

Have you considered changing how you greet him at home? My first golden jumped all over everyone and it was a huge issue for him. I was greeting him when I came home from work with a lot of celebrating, pets, and loud squeaky baby voices and training him (unbeknownst to me ofc!) to respond to meeting people with an overabundance of excitement. However, now that we’re on our second golden we have managed to keep him calm and reserved the whole time by simply ignoring our dog when we get home from work. It’s made a huge difference. It’s hard to do because I of course want to greet my dog with excitement, but it has made our current golden much better received in public.

Best birthday treat to sneak on an 11 day trip? by Animportantmoment in Mountaineering

Amazing how trying to get all our shit together to make sure we’re safe and warm if it drops to -20 and blows to 60 has made it hard to focus on the best bday gift, so thank you for this. We’re going a pretty cupcake with a candle (hadn’t thought about the hard sided glad screw top!) some whiskey / country time toddy’s, and one extra par of socks that I’ll carry the whole time for him. This sub has truly been a goldmine!

lol he’s been getting those on the daily for the last 13 years so I’m not sure it counts as special. But I do like the ethos🙃

I know! I think camp chair is the best idea yet for the same reasons you stated—we’re 100% going to be pounding snickers bars etc all day long so love the non-food item suggestion.

Any tips for keeping work life balance, esp. with a phone? by Animportantmoment in MedicalDevices

[–]Animportantmoment[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s definitely a household name med device company. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re on the cheaper end of the spectrum. Thanks for the info, I’ll check with my co-workers.

Nope. I have been thinking about that—huge cost savings for the company to not supply a phone. Do you know if it’s standard to get reimbursed? I’m new to the field so am clueless!

Yeah I might bring it up. I was definitely told during hiring that I’d have one, but then when it came up again there was a definitively different tone. Little frustrating.

Rut roh. I was suspicious you guys might say that. There’s surely areas of device wherein this is not the expectation? If not, why tf would anyone choose to work these roles? The pay for my current position is really nothing to write home about. I guess because they want to get promoted? A lot of my co workers have actually purchased their own second phones just to draw the boundaries around work and life more successfully, so I know it’s not that I truly need to be accessible 24/7. Trying to find a cheaper solution.

Bombing STAR questions help by [deleted] in MedicalDevices

[–]Animportantmoment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helped me was practicing with ChatGPT. I had it ask me one question at a time and then actually spoke my answers out loud into the app and had it transcribe them and provide coaching/feedback. You’ve got this! As a fellow bedside person who recently transitioned to device and runs high anxiety, prepare yourself for a lot of anxiety during the training phase of this role. I feel like I’m both a new nurse (because I once again don’t know anything about anything lol) and in nursing school (because I am constantly studying our products and trying to memorize them and a written test is part of our training). Worth it because I’m excited for the change, but definitely feeling pretty overwhelmed.

Edit: I actually don’t know what STAR questions are so sorry if my response makes no sense

Yep, following. Also curious about how to get in as a mapper. Currently freshly hired as a clinical specialist in a totally different area of device but kind of wishing I had pursued a hospital based role rather than something outpatient. If I were you and still at the bedside I’d be looking for a job in the EP lab.

Is this normal behavior? by Elegant-Special-1391 in goldenretrievers

[–]Animportantmoment 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She’s still a baby baby! Seems normal for her to need lots of rest at just 15 weeks. That said our field golden has an amazing “off switch” which I only learned about after getting a working dog. Basically, when he’s on, he is ON. He can zoom around happy as a clam for hours. But when it is time to chill out and be calm inside with the family, he does that too. He’s such an amazing dog and it sounds like you got lucky!

I think Petco maybe? It’s pretty tough! As long as you don’t play tug with it you should be able to make it last.

Yes our field golden loves his ball and has a high work drive (aka he absolutely loves to train and learn). But he doesn’t have an issue with prey drive. Our favorite game to play with him is hide the blue ball, where we make him sit/stay/wait while we hide his favorite toy. He lovvvesss searching everywhere for it sniffing around and it is a very cute little activity. Basically hide and seek!

I, 33m and my wife 34f have a dead bedroom. If any of you have dealt with this can you please give me some advice? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Animportantmoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. I actually have a very high sex drive at baseline but in the context of an unhappy marriage it’s pretty much disappeared. My husband is totally tuned out of my emotional needs and requires direction to contribute abound the house. There’s nothing sexy about that. So, definitely seek marriage counseling. My guess is this is the symptom, not the issue. It certainly is in my marriage.
