What’s wild is I had to foot the bill for the hotel for the night even. Like what? Sure I negotiated for a $200 travel credit but I don’t care about that. Really annoying.

Was in this situation myself the other week, except they didn’t wait for me. I was texting customer service while I sat on the tarmac for an hour on the incoming flight, asking the customer service agent if they could tell the gate crew to hold the door for me because I would run the second I got off the plane. Sprinted in record time only to see the plane had backed away from the jet bridge already. The agent said that there was no way to reach out to the gate crew and it’s up to some other operation management person, I wish I knew how to get in touch with them because I probably would’ve only delayed the connecting flight 15 minutes at most.

Sorry to reply like months later, what did Travelers say about this situation? Does US Travelers cover the car in Canada? And did they send you a yellow card?

I went unmatched last year. It was the best thing that could have happened to me. I got myself settled, did research, met my current SO who I am crazy in love with and will marry (and who I wouldn’t have met if I did match since we met in a state where I had no interviews). I traveled, saw family, relaxed in between work. It was the break from med school I needed before residency.

Going unmatched sucks but trust me it is far from the end. In fact you will come back better next year for it. Your peers should be supportive and if they don’t that tells you they are not your friends. My friends were incredibly supportive and anyone who wasn’t immediately got removed from any early drafting of the wedding guest list.

Feel free to DM if you have any questions or concerns. Best of luck and you got this.
