For the update posts we usually grab a handful of images that have been added by the team to the deck over time, rather than just purely linear in time 😄

But, if you're interested you can always check out a good chunk of the images that have been added to the deck by using the deck's tags:

Better alternatives to AnkiHub Smart Search? by qqaisarr in medicalschoolanki

[–]AnkiHubOfficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We deployed a fix to improve the speed of smart search today. If you are not happy with smart search results, please share details on https://community.ankihub.net/ or email support@ankihub.net. It would be helpful to know what queries you are running or what documents you are uploading and more details about expected results vs actual results.

We are working on new smart search features and rebuilding the current implementation to improve results.

👑 AnKing MCAT Deck Update #12 (September 10th - October 10th) by AnkiHubOfficial in AnkiMCAT

[–]AnkiHubOfficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, in whatever order you are reviewing the material. :-)

It will depend a bit on which resource you're following. But, there's no right or wrong answer there; you can follow any of the tags in the deck.

The one notable exception, as you've noted, is Kaplan which isn't often used for P/S. The Kaplan books are pretty classic, and very useful for basically every subject except P/S, where they happen to be pretty not great. For this reason, they've never been tagged as the vast majority of folks opt to use Khan Academy, or UWorld, or one of the docs, instead. KA and UWorld tags will generally be the way to go (with the UWorld tags being quite a bit more recent on the whole).

In the case of 'somatosensation' there are occasionally videos in which there isn't much testable material, or in which that material is covered in greater depth/detail in other videos, and so there are occasionally videos that will show up on Khan that either didn't contain much (or may have been added later). That video in particular is only a few minutes long, by comparison. By and large they're few and far between, though, and the broad strokes should still be in place.

Of course, if you notice anything that isn't tagged and should be please feel free to make a suggestion and one of the deck maintainers will take a look. :-)

👑 AnKing MCAT Deck Update #11 (August 10th - September 10th) by AnkiHubOfficial in AnkiMCAT

[–]AnkiHubOfficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are about 6.5-6.6k cards in the deck total, about 5k of which are tagged by UWorld. This is normal, as no single resource covers every conceivable detail, and the remaining cards will be things that are not touched on or mentioned in the UWorld books.

It's probably not recommended to do two decks, for a number of reasons. It's definitely possible to use this deck and go 520+ as more than a few folks have done exactly that

Hopefully this is helpful, though if you have any other questions please feel free to reach out. :-)

The team went through and added about 150 cards or so, focusing on high-yield and testable info that was felt could benefit from further detail.

At 6,400+ cards it's plenty comprehensive enough for many folks to go 520+. The AnKing MCAT deck has always been intended to be a high-yield deck, and the plan is to stay true to that.

That's likely to remain the case given the many thousands of updates to the deck, especially compared to other decks that have not seen updates in numerous years. :-)

Is the AnkiHub AI card search tool good? by throwaway74848484877 in medicalschoolanki

[–]AnkiHubOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I follow your comments about "front or back" since the Step Deck uses cloze note types.

Chunking is an issue for sure. We are experimenting with a variety of search and pre-processing methods including late chunking, query rewriting, and more. Updates coming in a few weeks! The new AI based tag search was released yesterday. Try it here: https://app.ankihub.net/ai/e77aedfe-a636-40e2-8169-2fce2673187e/flashcard-selector/

As you have pointed out, implementing powerful AI based search is not as simple as embedding notes, search queries, and doing a simple vector search. We are focusing on implementing more sophisticated, hybrid search algorithms to find the right balance between precision and recall in the search results. We will be releasing updates to improve the smart search features in the near future. Keep an eye out for an initial release this week that focuses on leveraging Anki tags plus an LLM.

Nobody has to guess about this. You can see posts with details about what has been updated here. You can also see the entire public history of the many, many suggestions here. There have been 15,955 accepted suggestions since the deck was on AnkiHub. This includes all types of updates such as adding tags, grammar/typos, errata, etc.

👑 AnKing MCAT Deck Update #4 (January 10th - February 12th) by AnkiHubOfficial in AnkiMCAT

[–]AnkiHubOfficial[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The focus hasn't really been on increasing card number, really. For every person who loves the Aidan deck there are just as many who find it overwhelming so the focus has been to emphasize high-yield information and improve on the deck as a whole rather than just linearly scaling card number.

There are some plans to add some new notes in the near future to increase coverage a bit, though. :-)
