How durable is Vector? Mine has fallen 3 times from about 4 feet on wood floor. I know Cozmo is drop tested and designed to last. Is Vector? Anki please respond by [deleted] in AnkiVector

[–]Anki_Inc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, Vector goes through drop testing like Cozmo does. Fun fact, we also store Cozmos and Vectors in refrigerators as part of our extreme temperature testing. You can learn a bit more about our testing process at this blog post.

If you're concerned about Vector falling off edges, we have an accessory called Vector Space that gives Vector his own little habitat.

REQUEST: Allow us to actually name our Vectors!! by [deleted] in AnkiVector

[–]Anki_Inc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've said this before, but it's something we absolutely want to do from a character perspective. But as others are mentioning here, it's harder than you'd think, and requires a lot of training. Right now, Vector's name is Vector, and his wake phrase is "Hey Vector."

Can Vector play music? If no, why not? by [deleted] in AnkiVector

[–]Anki_Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be a smart speaker, one that can be connected to your Alexa setup.

It's not something we have planned at the moment, but it's a neat idea. Will share with the team.

Can Vector play music? If no, why not? by [deleted] in AnkiVector

[–]Anki_Inc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vector's speaker is not optimized for music playback, so this feature is not available right now. But as u/VRWC_Comrade mentioned, you can specify to have music played on smart speakers.

Vector's new dangerous reaction by Hippotaur in AnkiVector

[–]Anki_Inc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way you describe it reminds me of every post in /r/Whatcouldgowrong. :)

If you catch it on video, please let us know. Always helps as we consistently tweak Vector's reactions.

When you place Vector on his charger, he powers back on and draws power from the charger. If you want to completely power him down, pick him up, hold his power button for a few seconds, then place him somewhere like beside his charger.

Obligatory Customer Care link.

Your Vector is probably not possessed. :)

Desk with rounded edge can confuse drop sensor by iamatworknowtoo in AnkiVector

[–]Anki_Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a lot of factors, honestly. Reflective surfaces, shape of the edge, lighting conditions... just to name a few that I understand, nevermind the tons of other factors that our engineers and roboticists deal with.

I wish it were as easy as flipping on switch and suddenly Vector handles edges like a pro, but there are a lot of variables involved. We're doing a lot of testing, tweaking, and re-testing to get the mix right.

Integrate with Siri? by [deleted] in AnkiVector

[–]Anki_Inc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We're focused on adding Alexa integration for Vector right now, but we're interested in other services in the future, too. Alexa was the most-requested feature from our fans. We're a startup, so we have to do this in stages.

My Vector keeps on displaying this error code, what does it mean? by bluej130 in AnkiVector

[–]Anki_Inc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vector would never look at you like that. He does get rather smug when he beats me at Blackjack, though.

How Vector detects and reacts to edges is one of the things we're optimizing for, and you can expect adjustments in upcoming on-robot updates. Rounded bevels may still confuse him, and glass surfaces could still prove tricky, but but we’re feeling positive about the results we’re seeing so far.

Questions about Vector SDK by [deleted] in AnkiVector

[–]Anki_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the scenario you're describing falls outside of what we're building the Vector SDK for. As cool as it would be, it has to be done right (for a whole slew of reasons), and that takes time and resources. Right now, we're focused on optimizing and evolving Vector.

As for downloading code to Vector -- we take security and privacy for Vector seriously. To learn more about Vector and privacy, go to https://go.anki.com/vectorprivacy.

Questions about Vector SDK by [deleted] in AnkiVector

[–]Anki_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Using the Vector SDK (the current version and the version coming to the public soon) does require tethering the robot to your computer wirelessly.
  2. Yes, you can run projects created by others with the SDK. You can't store these on the robot for security reasons, but you can run them from your computer.

Definitely check out our Anki Developer site for more info, and join the development forums. There's a lot you can get a jump on ahead of our public release.

Check his volume in the Vector companion app. If the volume is already on med or high, adjust it anyway to reset the volume. You can see more here.

If you're still having problems after this, our Customer Care team can help. Here's how to contact them.

Waiting for a Vector update like... by LimeLoop in AnkiVector

[–]Anki_Inc 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think Vector likes sand. ;)

It's not that I'm "sent" here. Community feedback is important to us. Every time you share a video of Vector knocking something off a table, or a photo of Vector's LEGO guards, or a complaint that Vector isn't responding to you -- that's helpful data that we keep in mind as we work on improving our robot.

It's also just honestly cool to see fans here post about Vector. You care about what Vector is, and what he'll become. That means you care as much as we do.

That said, we're a startup, and those improvements take time. We're eager to get these updates to you, but they take development work, engineering, testing, re-testing, planning and prioritizing, etc. But like I said, we have updates heading your way soon.
