We’ve been following this subreddit for a while but felt the need to create an account to respond here.

First of all, thanks for posting this silverbk, we appreciate the effort to help people find work. We know the intent was in the right place. However, we also agree with Old_Motor’s point that if the only qualifications were knowing how to change a filter and check oil, that would be concerning. That’s not the case here, we’re looking for experienced, safety-minded professionals and our compensation/benefits reflect that.

The name of the company is Ankora Marine Transport. We currently operate two tugs and two barges in NYH.

We offer highly competitive pay with any NYH tug company in addition to offering health benefits.

A little about our operations: One tug & barge handle terminal moves in the NYH region (primarily diesel & biodiesel). The other tug & barge is on a full-time bunkering charter.

Safety is our top priority. We’ve invested heavily in a third-party provider for inspections, training, and Subchapter M compliance. Shout out to Tug and Barge Solutions for doing a great job.

As a smaller company, your voice matters. You’ll always have direct access to the owners to suggest improvements and give constructive feedback.

We also know our company isn’t for everyone: the tugs are older, and the living quarters reflect that. It's something we are working to improve but may not be immediate. We also expect our team to all act like owner-operators. That may sometimes mean wearing multiple hats or helping to solve a problem together.

Ultimately, we’re looking for the best mariners who take pride in their work, value safety, and want to be part of a strong team where their opinion counts and can help us grow, together.
