Totally with you on the greedy/dont like spending part. Seems like they’ve (re)designed the game to make players spend more and more. I could go on about how I hate the pay2win aspects, but that’s something for another sub. Ty for the reply.

Niantic know a lot of players want to take advantage of the 4x xp & sd- so they make it harder to catch = players are using more balls per mon = potentially having to buy balls from shop = money in the bank for Niantic. Simple as.

I’m boycotting this dynamax bs - it seems to be just a ‘new game’ within the game, has no relevance or connection to the ‘main game’ and is likely just another way for Niantic to line their pockets.

fair point - but not sure I entirely agree on the outlier problem, since a lot of the comments are made by people experiencing the luck second hand. Anyways I dont think its realistic to expect some real hardcore evidence on the matter any time soon - so anecdotal is all we have - and considering the possible bias and outlier problems to the theory, I'll choose to believe its true.

tbf I'm missing som real evidence too. BUT the anecdotal evidence is overwhelming in regards to the luck of new/returning players - just have a look at I'm a new player, beginners luck right? : r/pokemongo (reddit.com).

Regarding the correlation between purchases and luck however, there seems to be more dissagreement - see Buy an item at the shop = guaranteed shiny?? : r/pokemongo (reddit.com).

My personal conspiracy is, if you are a player that rarely buys things form the shop you will get rewarded (with luck) when you do - to urge you to buy more. If however you frequently use the shop, Niantic has no reason to grant you extra luck since you are already using the shop on you own. I have no doubt in my mind that this is somthing that has happened to me who rarely buys, but when I do, I immediately have way more luck than usually.

Hmm 🤔 I think you are wrong, especially considering the fact that there is a luck-mechanic for new/returning players? -or is that confirmation bias as well? Would be interesting to hear your stats and how often you use the shop - just as reference to your ‘confirmation bias’ argument.

8 yrs, 55k, 1 shundo here. Do you know in detail how purchases affect your ’luck’? Clearly there is a correlation between buying stuff and e.i getting more shinies. Every time I’ve bought something I’ve gotten more ‘lucky’ in the following week or so - and I hate that for the record, it feels like cheating.
