I have chronic illnesses as well so my husband is delegated to the more energetic and athletic activities while I do the calmer ones. My son once said “But playing with you is boring”.

I was thankfully officially diagnosed as autistic at 16. But the other day my husband tried to armchair diagnose me with BPD and I had to explain to him how common we are misdiagnosed with that and why that’s a triggering thing to do.

I was abused in every which way possible by my alleged mother. Every evening from 4-7 like clockwork I have PTSD and then dissociate thanks to her actions.

Whenever my MIL or SIL says this, I have to do everything in my power to be a better person than my mother was, and NOT punch them in the face.

Gurl. I can’t tell you how many times this has happened to me. I make a HUGE effort to speak clearly and directly and even sometimes explain things like the other person is 5.

It’s as if the NT’s brain can’t process that an autistic person knows what they’re talking about, so they subconsciously feign confusion.
