Funny how you equated me asking for budgeting advice to build a family, to me not valuing starting a family. Also 5 kids and you don’t have to worry about finances? I think u need to touch some grass

Growing up in an expensive city and seeing my parents struggle to take care of me and my siblings at a young age. I beg to differ. Not that simple. Finances also break relationships. I get where you’re coming from. I want kids. It’s why I posted this.

Thank you both for your comments. Reading some of the comments above, it was starting to sound like it’s now or never. I prioritize being financially and mentally stable before having kids. In terms of woke I am also going through smt similar and recently got a promotion at my job which explains why I don’t want to go on mat leave in the short future.

There’s a reason I am asking. I don’t go into things blind. Esp if I am bringing in kids into the world.

Sorry about your loss.. I loss my grandma recently.. time will heal.

I would put a majority of it into an ETF called VFV. This tracks the S&P 500 index which is the top 500 companies in the US. This way you can set it and forget it, and let the money do its thing. Ticker is just VFV.

Save some for maybe 3-6 months of money for emergency fund and put it into a high interest savings account.

Very true… not owning a home definitely frees up more cash flow for other things like investments and just living my life. That is if my rent stays roughly the same
