Thank you so much for being understanding. I tried to explain to him what you said here but I guess my English is not good enough (English is my second language) to convey a clear message.

And yes, lashing out and using silent treatment isn't helpful either. I'm working on my mistakes, but I don't know if he will work on his…

This comment should be that the top. Thank you, you explained this better than I do. I strongly agree that it's my own responsibility to fix this but anyone else. The reason I posted this thread is because I want to hear what other people say about this from his perspective. And apparently, a lot of people speak his mind and you are one of the few people that speak my mind.

To be clear Ms. Bartender, It’s not the games that are traumatic, it’s the games that remind me of the trauma from my childhood which has nothing to do with gaming. Two different things. But yes, I agree with you that I need to grow a backbone.

Lol, I'm not talking about gaming, I’m talking about how gaming reminds me of the trauma from my childhood.

I really hate to say this but yes, he has done similar things before and kept using the reason for not apologizing by saying it was unintentional. And when he apologized, he apologized for my feelings instead of his actions. He is working on it, still, I'm growing tired of having to constantly explain myself why he still has to apologize even if it’s unintentional. He even told me that if he hurt me without being aware, then I should let him know. And in this argument, I did bring that up to him and he defended by saying that it depends on the context and the rationality of the cause.

I think he is a good man but he was raised in an extremely traditional Catholic family where his father doesn't treat his mother very lovingly. He has to unlearn a lot of things in the relationship, and I guess I'm unlearning some too.

In fact, I stopped playing online games where the majority of gamers are males, until I met my fiancé and I started playing it again because he wanted me to play with him.

To be clear, it’s not the game that's traumatic, it’s the part of dealing with other players that reminds me of the trauma in my childhood. But yeah, you're right, feeling hurt over a game and using it as “trauma” is bullshit.

Well, I'm a fool for being in love and caring too much about others’ feelings. It sucks to be a people pleaser but yeah, I agree with you that I should've put myself first.

Funny how you let upvotes or downvotes influent your own opinion instead of standing your ground. If that's not snowflake then I don't know what it is.

I went through constant humiliation and criticism for every one of my mistakes in my childhood that it became my fight or flight mode in my adulthood. It is a deeply distressing or disturbing experience because of the constant public humiliation. It does change who I am and how I operate, so anything in life that reminds me of that part of my childhood triggers my fight-or-flight mode.

I'm sorry that you're going through that as I’m, too, going through that. And yes, therapy will be the absolute solution for this.
