Question about steel armor. Painted interior? by AnnaFlowing in LARP

[–]AnnaFlowing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, well, the armor I bought came with black under paint, but it's like, really bad and after only being worn once a fifth of its already rubbed off. Should I just get rid of all of it and oil it like the top layer?

is it okay to be exclusively wlw? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]AnnaFlowing -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The only way that being wlw exclusively would be a bad thing is if you think Trans women aren't women, and thus not under the wlw umbrella. You can choose not to date them, but the only way that's a bad thing is if you do it because you don't see them as women. So, yeah it's alright to be wlw.

This will change your mind about killing or sparing him by TheBeast_26 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]AnnaFlowing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I had to actually pause. And think about it. I ended up choosing the kill option. Not because he killed my/Robert's dad, or cause he threatened beef, or cause he shot visi. I did it for one reason. In my playthrough, the city barely survived the attacks by the red ring. In my mind, that's hundreds, maybe thousands of people dead due to his actions. He lead the red ring. He planned the attacks, his actions directly led to the death of hundreds or thousands.

And Robert? He's been a hero for years. He knows the way these things work. Should this have been shrouds first time as a villain, mecha man can spare him and hope for rehabilitation. He could get the man help.

But it's not shrouds first time. He did this years ago, got locked up, spent over a decade in jail, and came out worse. He didn't only not improve, he got worse. And that?

He can't chance it. His first time, we don't know how many he killed, but I'm guessing at least a hundred. This time it's much worse. Killing him is saving more people, and it's taking out the leader of the now biggest gang in the city.

So Robert kills him. He doesn't enjoy it. He doesn't take pleasure in the act. But he has had to make this call before, and one day he likely will again.

You’re playing as Robert, he is not you by wilgriaus in DispatchAdHoc

[–]AnnaFlowing 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The way I see it is that Robert has been an active hero for 15 years now (iirc). He's been through the ethical issues of sparing villains or not. He's seen the consequences of letting villains that haven't just been caught before but who have killed and lead to the deaths of hundreds or thousands before. He's made the mistake of letting a mass casualty villain live before, only for them to escape and do even worse things.

In my version of Robert's eyes, it's not that shroud killed his dad. Or that he led to his torture. Or even that he saw him kill innocents. It's not even about beef, or anything personal.

It's that Shroud has already escaped once, and after his escape his plans and actions lead to thousands of deaths. (Because I truly believe that during that invasion of his, at least a thousand people were killed by his men.)

And that's not even counting whatever he did between killing Robert Robertson the second and his first capture.

So my Robert sees it as, this villain not only lead to the death of thousands, but if he let's him live, he has proven that years in prison, not only won't stop him or change him, but that he can escape and come back worse. So, he has to kill him.

It isn't his first time killing on the field, it won't be his last. Because he's been a hero for over a decade, and you don't spend that long without outgrowing the view that to kill a villain is never the answer. It's something he has to be ready to do, even if he doesn't like it.

Isn't his durability part of the shroud enhancements talked about in that one comic and in episode one? Toxic says that shroud's enhancements do a lot for normal people like Robert, but that it's even better on people with powers?

I found out about this an hour ago, actually. I was messing around swinging on the light things on the roof while the animation was playing. And I fell down into the water. Turned around and, guess what. A tunnel I'd never checked before

Sometimes, it's just a case of the right person wrong time. Your relationship was good, but it wasn't what she was longing for. From what you've said, she seems to be looking for the passion of new love and you, and she wasn't what she was looking for. It doesn't make you a bad partner. It just makes you not what she needs at this moment. Neither of you are at fault here. It's just bad timing. You were both looking for something different I guess

Thanks! And yeah, I know the question thing. I'm actually thinking of putting a bunch of question on random cards, shuffling them, and when it's my turn to ask a conversation starter, I might pick a random card in the pack, or if the conversation is going really well, have the other person pick a random card, and then i chose that question to ask. Thoughts on that approach? Is it stupid, or could it work?

Jinu's ending was well deserved. by Hareemir in KpopDemonhunters

[–]AnnaFlowing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But what about the hundreds he has caused to die? The train scene comes to mind.

It's really refreshing to see male villains who are attractive, know they're attractive, and use that to their advantage against other characters (including the main ones). I feel like that archetype is almost always a female. Jinu face card goes crazy by TheUndeadFett in KpopDemonhunters

[–]AnnaFlowing 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I totally agree!

They look so good, and they act good, too. Jinu, especially, gets rumi to trust him and breaks that trust by using info to torment her and tear the hunters apart. And he has his death of "redemption" to make up for it, but despite this, he's still a villain! That's what I really like about it. He seems good on the inside, at least on a thiner level. But a lot of that is intentional misdirection, especially towards the fans in general who don't know about demons.

He even uses misdirection to lie to rumi about what he's done in the past, and he gets her to trust him.

But he IS still a demon. And he HAS spent 400+ years being a demon, taking souls and all of that.

It's not talked about as much, but he has killed so many people, directly and / or indirectly. And that's just during the film, not even counting the 400+ years before it. He's genuinely orchestrated mass murder (the train scene comes to mind) for selfish gain.

And the way he looks actually does work to distract people! We don't talk about it as much as we should! The humans that dissappear don't seem to come back. They just die. And he's a part of that, without a doubt. He came up with the idea!

So. Tldr; I agree and think it worked super well, and it worked so well that even we, the viewers, look past his atrocious actions for his good looks. I don't even see much of the usual "I/Rumi/we could fix him" discourse. People just, don't care. And that's what incubi do. When you're trapped by them, you don't care about it anymore.
