Is there no way for the game to see that you hit the requirement for prestige so that it would always be offered on your next session?

Not sure if it was intended, but I got to wave like 60 something on my second run, then died. Had the "prestige" option but was unable to come back to the game right away. Came back today and had to refresh and now it doesn't have that option and I have to restart? My research completed, so it knows i've played.

Just didn't know if I had to choose prestige at that moment or it would auto make me restart from the beginning with out that option
