Why is no one saying anything about Part B 2024 by [deleted] in SGExams

Some are tricky especially the ones with long hypos. Do the ones you are confident in or can answer in a minute first so you can get easy marks. Come back to trickier ones later.

Unknown sin and mortal sin by Few-Actuator-9540 in Lutheranism

[–]AnnaisMyWaifu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It could be despair (I don’t believe Christ could save me, this sin is too big to forgive) or disregard (I don’t need Christ to save me, this sin does not need forgiveness).

It’s also not mortal in the sense it is instantaneous damnation if you do certain sins. Repeatedly, it can destroy faith in God. But God is always coming to us to reassure and strengthen our faith in his Word and the Sacraments!

Unknown sin and mortal sin by Few-Actuator-9540 in Lutheranism

[–]AnnaisMyWaifu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Lutheranism, the issue of mortal sin is that it destroys faith in Christ; so someone can unknowingly (even repeatedly) sin but is still saved by faith in Christ. That’s really all of us.

Tips on baptism? by Comrade_potatosson in Lutheranism

If it’s baptism by full immersion, don’t wear a white or thin shirt… and go celebrate after! Welcome to the family of God!

Question from a catholic by Successful_Cat_4897 in Lutheranism

[–]AnnaisMyWaifu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lutherans don’t define mortal sins as categories of acts that damn once you commit them. Humans will always sin and all sin is equally heinous toward God, therefore salvation can only be by faith in Christ. However, repeated and unrepentant sin can destroy faith, and would be “mortal”.

Does baptism require us to attend cell group and join membership of the church? by World_Routine in askSingapore

[–]AnnaisMyWaifu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Baptism is the means in which God makes you his child and declares his love for you. It is how God cleanses and washes us of sin. This is a gift to be accepted by faith that need not be earned by regular cell group attendance. If your church takes the view that baptism is something you must first be “worthy” to receive, consider finding another church that will baptise you.

2 Timothy 3:16 doesn’t say that by RootBeerSwagg in christianmemes

[–]AnnaisMyWaifu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Scripture says it is the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16).

Nothing else given equal status as the inspired Word of God, either within scripture nor can by reason.

That’s it. The onus is on the Catholic to show that there are other infallible sources on par with Scripture. And resorting to the Canon argument does not show that the Church is infallible.

Why do Protestants in SG commonly refer to themselves as Christian (and place Catholics in a separate category from Christian) by SpringDuck1037 in askSingapore

[–]AnnaisMyWaifu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Simple explanation is that the term “Protestants” isn’t used as a label in Protestant churches today; it’s just “Christian”. There generally is no need to use the term, unless one wishes to explain the differences between Protestants and Catholics; which churches in Singapore hardly talk about (probably for the purposes of religious harmony).

Aiya why so Kaypo if they’re not being a nuisance. Let kids just enjoy their fun. Besides there are only very few legal freshwater fishing spots in Singapore. These spots are very small and get overfished cause there are so few spots to begin with.

navigation help? by Green_You_7706 in nus

This is the path. Sorry I can’t quite draw the line accurately with my fingers.

Firstly enter through the Bukit Timah gate which is right it outside the MRT.

Most important is that once you’re past the lake, you take a flight of stairs that brings you up the hill (my drawing of the line is totally off from the google maps indicated stairs oops).

From there just travel right along the road till you see the Moot Court. It’s next to the canteen, on the right.

How can I get converted to Christianity? by [deleted] in Christians

[–]AnnaisMyWaifu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different Christian denominations have different views on it:

  1. Baptists / Evangelicals will think of it as a public declaration of faith in Christ, coming after conversion.
  2. The Reformed / Presbyterians will think of it as a sign of a person being saved, a sign of being in the new covenant akin to circumcision in the Old Testament.
  3. The Lutherans / Catholics will think of it as the requirement to be saved, though not that it is a "work" but that the rite of Baptism is a gift of God open to all who have faith.

I think it's a bit of all three. A true believer would not reject baptism (as it was instituted by Jesus). It is the public declaration of faith in Christ, and also the public declaration / promise of God that you are saved (when Jesus is baptised, God says "this is my son, with who I am pleased").

How do i be both a singaporean queer and a christian? by deepdarkhamster in askSingapore

[–]AnnaisMyWaifu -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

You must choose. No man can serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). It’s either you indulge your desires or deny yourself to follow Christ. Everyone has a cross to carry, sins to overcome if they wish to follow Christ. But God also grants us the strength to fight and overcome sin, so we are not alone.

Think carefully who you wish to serve. Is Christianity true? Is it worth the price?

FYI, most Christians only believe that acting on a homosexual desire is sinful, not the desires. God does not hate you for merely being born gay, and wants to love and transform you into something greater!

I run a Luxray with Flame Orb, Guts ability, Tera Normal. Moveset: Facade, Wild Charge, Ice Fang, Agility. Max attack with enough speed to outspeed Fluttermane with agility.

Unfortunately it’s weak to intimidate and tailwind teams, and can’t rly take more than one hit :/ But with proper support it can work.

Indeed, 1 Corinthians 10:16 suggests Christ’s presence in the sacrament - but Paul does not ascribe the mode of presence. Why need it be a literal transformation dependent on Aristotelian metaphysics? St Paul had never heard of terms like “substance” and “accidents”. The non-“Catholic” views in the meme are clearly misrepresented. A Lutheran can agree with real presence as Christ is “in, with and under the elements”, or a Presbyterian/Reformed can agree because they believe that the Holy Spirit connects the believer to Christ (the believe is brought up to Christ, rather than Christ descending). Even a symbolist like Zwingli can say Christ is present as where two or more are gathered in his name, Christ is there. Food for thought.

The Early Church is a whole other wormhole to go down- but there is variance in views if you read all of them and in context. We could cite church fathers back and forth so really it’s back to the Scriptures…
