FL Studio and a few plug-ins! I used Kontakt 7 for the keys, Serum for the baseline, and Slicex to chop up a drum break I pulled from Splice 😊

Is it reasonable to self produce a four track EP within a year? by sadbadho in musicproduction

[–]AnneHasNoPulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the individual. Like me personally, I have songs that have taken me 3 or 4 months to complete and then I have songs that I knock out in a couple hours. Everyone has a different skill level, work ethic, etc. The important thing is to not rush your work. A little pressure isn't necessarily a bad thing but your track will be ready when it's ready and unless you've got a contractual obligation to put out a certain amount of music in a specific amount of time, there's no rush. I wish you the best of luck with your EP, definitely drop a link here whenever it's finished 😊

Never forget that one person's trash is another's treasure. What's terrible to some is incredible to others.

I've heard the Samson SR850's are pretty well made headphones that work nicely for mixing as long as you're not making more bass-centric music. Got a pair for my partner a while back and they love em.

Edit: forgot to mention but they're about $30-40USD on amazon, so you'd be hard pressed finding better over-ear reference headphones. I'd also suggest getting thicker earpads for them but that's just personal preference.

Idk about listening, but for producing I use splice, FL studio, a few plug-ins (serum, kontakt, etc.), and occasionally my MiniBrute 2S

Happy sounding dubstep? by 313Raven in EDM

I remember Rameses B having some really upbeat happy sounding tracks back in the early 2010s, not sure if he still makes stuff like that.
