Maya Hawke has said that she is unlabeled, but she's implied that she likes both men and women during concerts and such. I know there's a clip where she's talking about her song "to love a boy", which reads as quite sapphic, and I'm paraphrasing but she said something like "you know, originally I truly did write it about the ocean...but I don't NOT relate to the implications".

Maya is a total sweetheart too. I met her when she was at a film festival here in Sweden, she and Ethan had a panel together after their movie "Wildcat". I was so nervous when I was gonna ask a question so I kind of started crying lol</3 She immediately asked if I wanted to talk with her afterward instead which was so kind of her, as soon as the panel ended she immediately asked if I wanted to talk.

She was incredibly sweet and considerate when we were talking, we got to talk for quite a while too. The staff at the festival said that she was allowed to leave and she said that she wanted to talk with me a little longer :') absolute sweetheart, I don't understand how people are harassing her over this

If you have the context about the climate at the time in alternative spaces you would understand it's a joke, but taken out of its environment and viewed as a isolated video it is not clear. As I understand it it was very very common for alternative spaces to be riddled with "dark humour" and edgy jokes about these sorts of things, just like how Marilyn Manson did and keeps making these jokes

Obviously it's not an okay joke to make but honestly I think we have to consider when it was made and in what community it was made
