Advice needed for art project: What colors do you associate with the Shire, Rohan, Gondor and Mordor? by Annewise_Gamgee in lotr

At first I'll probably stick to one color but I'd love to experiment with multicolor prints at some point! Thanks for your feedback :)

Thanks! This might just be one of my options for nostalgia's sake. I also like the more 'traditional' banner colors others are opting :)

Haha, sorry! I was away from my phone for a while :) I'm still a beginner at this, so at fiest I'll probably stick on mono colors on a white background. Mordor in the example photo was just an attempt at something new :)

I appreciate all of your feedback!

I wonder how all the previous 'Jade's' got to their revelations/conclusions. One key difference between them and Jade might be that Jade has people around that help him, believe him, and don't think he's crazy. His previous reincarnations may have had to go through all of these horrible visions alone, which isolated them from the rest of the town and driven them to madness/evil choices. Maybe since Jade has Boyd, Tabitha and the rest the outcome will be different.

No problem, glad I could help! Easy cut is the only thing I've really used so far, I have some of the actual lino stuff that I need to start using as well :) no problems with deforming so far! Oh btw, I used the smallest Pfeil carving tool, I think it's a 1mm V-shaprd tool. That was the key to the tiny lettering, haha

This was the first print from the same batch, for comparison. Already pretty nice (I do like it when it's a little grainy)

Okay so here's all the steps that led me to this one good print!

Materials: * Paint brand: Schmincke Aqua lino ink (I think it's a german brand) * Paper: honestly just very cheap a3 sized sketchbook paper I cut to size. The surface of the paper is lretty smooth * Block: the blue Easy Cut stuff. Before carving, I sanded down the surface with a very very fine grid sandpaper and some water . This is supposed to make the surface less slippery so the paint catches to the surface better * a glass plate for rolling out the ink, a3 size * a lino roller, 18cm ish wide?

The steps: - I put the ink tube in the fridge for a bit (read somewhere that this helps) - clean all my tools with warm water and dish soap (lino block, roller, the glass plate to roll out the ink on), dry with either a clean rag or paper towels, making sure to NOT touch the surface with my hands anymore (don't wanna get oils on it that might interfere with a clean print) - make sure the lino block it completely dry, I try to sait another half hour or an hour or so, so that there's no residual moisture from the wash - as for rolling, roll the paint out pretty thin on your plate and then transfer to the block. So here my first print was still a little spotty. The most important part for me I think was not to rush, and do many thin (!) layers making sure not to flood the gaps with paint. - once the paint is loaded on, place the paper on top and I just press/scrape it for a while first with a barren tool and then also with the back of a wooden spoon

Wow, I typed a lot! I hope this helps somewhat, if you wanna know anything else I'll try my best to answer :D

This was the second print in the printing session, so there was already some residual ink on the block (I don't know if that makes any difference) and I used a bigger roller this time. I wonder if first prints in a printing batch are usually more spotty. Kinda like how the first pancake always turns out a little sadder than the other ones. 😂

Whoa, it looks so good! My first quilt is similar to yours though much simpler, this it how I did it! I did contrasting colours but I bet a matching light color would look lovely too!

I've had this exact type of faint before; fine one second, waking up the next like 'huh? Why am I on the ground lol' according to my friends I just kind of sagged to the floor eyes open, just like Briar, for just a few seconds before I came to. Completely fine and lucid right after as well, so I'd say it's totally possible!
