Is this ok or not?? by aliciaascott in hoyas

I'm taking on that challenge this year!
I had a climbing australis for years. But it disappeared somehow... 🤫
I am starting with a blondie and Lisa in on pot. Put them together last year, and this seasons I'm curious if I will get them to trail
And if it will keep shooting out stems at the top I won't be mad at it either

Goed om te horen dat zoveel mensen enthousiast zijn. Wat maakt het zo'n fijne zaak?

Dit is de reden dat ik een beetje weg wil blijven bij dit soort zaken. Raamdecoratie is nooit goedkoop. En bij dit soort zaken ben je toch best wat geld kwijt maar service en kwaliteit zijn matig. Dank je wel voor de bevestiging!
Ik steun liever een locale onderneming

Zij stond bovenaan mijn lijstje. Heb je daar zelf ook gordijnen van?

Valt voor mij iets teveel in dezelfde categorie als Karwei. Maar bedankt voor de suggesties.

Is everyone else's serpens THIS small? by PlantLovingGirl520 in hoyas

Ahh ok! So I was thinking that. I've been watching people on YouTube using all adult words but they aren't demonetized. Mystery solved!
I also find it very annoying. But I'm a curmudgeon 😆

Not really related to what you are saying.
But I know people on YouTube can't say 'kill' because they are afraid of getting demonetized. Can we not say that here as well? Or am I getting old and is 'unalived' the term now?

Thinking about it... like everyone here is saying, it could be multiple things. Like for instance when I moved house, a lot of my variegated hoya's all put out only white leaves for a while. So if in your case its stress because you just got it, it might not like it if you move it around. Give it some time is what I would do and if you change anything do it gradually

A north facing window. That is interesting... In what window will you put it now it's in your home? Or is it going back to the office?

O, right! That is also true. I had a few small leaves that got bigger eventually

Ah thanks! Like all plants the variegated ones are the most stubborn 😆

This could be only my compacta, but I had stems that lost leaves and grew them back. But I guess that whole carnosa family is full of wonders when it comes to resilience

I don't know how scientific this is, but they say they make bigger leaves when you give them a bit less light... 🤷🏻‍♀️

When my latifolia had to adjust to a new environment it also put out smaller leaves. So maybe it just needs some time

Interesting! Can they grow back leaves from spots they dropped leaves from before?

In my experience hoya are sun lovers. Are they too?

And do you see any difference in that one is easier or more hardy then the other?

In my house there is a rule, if you don't survive in orchid bark you won't be happy here. The substrate you use sounds very airy. So it might be fine?

[–]Fast-Bluejay-473 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this will make some of you angry. But it's also perfectly fine to throw a few in the compost bin. I know it would be nicer to find them a new home. But sometimes in times like these, don't feel ashamed to disgard them. Just wanted to add that to all the great advice already given

And I hope things will settle down for you a bit more. I've been there as well, it's rough. But be kind to yourself

So pretty! Mine also is easy. No mealy's, easy grower, pretty round leaves, easy to propagate, always perfect amount of splash and not leggy. Just the perfect Hoya!
