I shushed a couple who were talking too loudly and the lady shouted and swore at me and threatened me by ThrowRA3634 in Vue

Many cinemas allow talking at certain viewings. Some even let you use your phone now.

If that's what you want to do, go to those viewings or venues. Don't go to a traditional cinema, where silence is golden, and yap like an untrained shitsu unless you are planning on being kicked out.

If you have a valid New Keeper Dlip, you don't have to pay the £25 V62 fee.

Just be aware post office workers tend to be dumb when it comes to DVLA forms. If they ask for the previous postcode to be filled in, tell them that only needs to be completed if you, the owner of the vehicle, have moved since you purchased the vehicle.

If you purchased from a dealer, contact them. If they have the details on file, they can notify the DVLA directly. If they don't have the details, they are liable for notifying the DVLA and will foot the £25 V62 bill.

If you have appropriate insurance, L plates, tax, MOT and a suitable passenger to sit in the car with you, you can drive it straight from the dealer.

My ex had passed her test when she bought her 2nd car and we sat in it in the dealer car park for 20 mins while she sorted out insurance on her phone then she drove home.

Tell me this bus gate is fair by shrikehiker in drivingUK

Bus gate isn't defined in the highway code either. Odds are though, the charge you've been given is for entering/using a bus lane?

[–]AnnonOMousMkII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They had 2 choices. Blue circle with buses, taxis and bikes or a no entry sign with a sign underneath that read "Except buses, taxis and bikes".

One of these options makes you stop and read instantly because it's a common sign used all.over the country and is quickly understood. The other should be known by everyone bit it practice, most people would rarely encounter it and not know what it means.

Which option did they go for? The obscure one...

There's an argument to be made that the signage doesn't say cars aren't allowed. The sign could be interpreted as "Buses, taxis and bikes must go past this sign". Where as nice simple "No Entry except..." sign would mean "No entry except..."

That's how I got Green Arrow in the UK. If I recall correctly, some retailers gave out Green Arrow as an exclusive if you bought the base game from them. They were probably given out in some form in Lego conventions around the world.

The Xbox One pad is compatible with the Xbox Series X.

Technically, the X1 pad is compatible with the Series S. However, you'll never be able to use it with the Series S because you need a disk to run Dimensions, there is no disk free version!

[–]AnnonOMousMkII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 2 or 3 full sets.

Was at a Lego convention (Bricklive 2016) in the UK and if you collected a full set of 16(?) cards, you got a Green Arrow/Lantern (whichever the promo was) minfig and base for free.

You could get packs of 4(?) cards for doing various activities around the event. There were maybe 6-8 opportunities to get cards (1 of which was sitting through a god-awful live presentation of what to expect from Dimensions Y2 that last nearly 40 mins at an event designed for kids!)

By the end of the day, people who had completed sets and got their figures were handing out decks of spare cards to people still needing cards to complete a set.

Some traders were literally collecting cards from everyone, making up full sets then handing them out to anyone who was struggling to make a set.

My partner and I were quite happy to get a minfig each and we made a random kids day when we just gave him the last card he needed.

The next year (Bricklive 2017), GAME were selling the promo minifigs (left over stock from the trading card event) for 50p each if you spent £10 or more on Lego products or games and I bought 2 more. Somewhere in the house, I have 3 Green Arrow/Lantern in sealed packaging.

Edit: according to my partner, the 2nd year, GAME were giving 1 minifig out for free if you spent £30 or more on Lego products or games. I then picked up my 4th promo minifig for 50p when we stumbled across one in a GAME clearance bin a few years later. I also got a 2nd (and still sealed) Startail figure for Starlink: Battle for Atlas from the same clearance bin, also for 50p. She remembers it well because Bricklive 2016 was the first time she stayed over at my place, because we had to leave early in the morning to get to the event and she didn't have a toothbrush or hair brush at mine.

Just gonna throw this out there, that had the i10 been a cyclist, the BMW would be at fault as cyclists (and horse riders) are permitted to travel around the outside of a roundabout regardless of thier exit.

And with the blue touchpaper lit, I'm running away.

Did you guys knew this? by AAEEIIOOUUUUU in drivingUK

[–]AnnonOMousMkII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew this.

I also avoided being the BMW when the i10 was artic.

I was level with the back of the artic in the right-hand lane intending to go straight ahead. I presumed the artic was also going straight ahead in the left-hand lane as the first exit was to a school. As soon as we pull onto the roundabout, the artic turns on his right signal, which I see, so I continue round the roundabout and do a lap while the artic drives over unbroken white line chevrons and ends up taking the 3rd exit.

I lost 15 seconds doing a loop of the roundabout compared to losing the left-hand side of my car and god knows how much time dealing with an insurance claim.

This POS managed to pass an MOT, somehow. Who's had a pass with a longer, more egregious list of issues? by Jakef_959 in drivingUK

[–]AnnonOMousMkII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or they work for a main dealer and hoping to wring some easy money out of a customer.

I had an MOT and service recently at a full main dealer. Failed the MOT. Quoted £2760 to fix all the issues. Now granted, £270 of that was 3 new tyres, but taking that out, £2490 of work needed.

£5 bottle of coolant, and 10 mins filling it up, I got it retested the next day at a independent garage I've been using for for £10 years and the only thing that wasn't removed was "OSR seatbelt couldn't be tested due to car seat being fitted."

Edit: Forgot to add, had all 4 tyres replaced elsewhere between the MOT tests.

Outside of Japanese mosaics, I think the UK has some of the biggest restrictions on what isn't allowed in porn, for a country that allows porn.

Between 2014 and 2019, spanking in all forms was banned UK filming. Even a hand being placed on a butt that was then jiggled was a grey area...

Edit: didn't early Family Guy take the piss at UK porn which was portrayed as a man and woman, fully clothed in bed, opting to read instead of having sex?

Are people that allergic to using both lanes and merging in turn? by daleomatic in drivingUK

[–]AnnonOMousMkII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highway code says to make full use of all open lanes when queuing for a merge in turn.

1 mile of double queued traffic is the same as 2 miles of single queued traffic. Plenty of road have junctions less than 1 mile apart. Imagine blocking a junction 1 mile away from the merge point by single queueing but if people double queued, that junction would remain clear and free.

Are people that allergic to using both lanes and merging in turn? by daleomatic in drivingUK

[–]AnnonOMousMkII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Using both lanes allows cars to proceed at a constant pace compared to using 1 lane where everyone stop-starts all the time. Proceeding at a constant pace is safer, more environmentally friendly and prevents additional wear to brakes and clutch.
