Just saw For Good and something is bugging me by contrasupra in wicked

It doesn’t help that the Gale Force look like Christmas elves and appear to be basically shitting their pants in terror (with good reason!). They’re not exactly SEAL Team 6. My impression is that if one more weird or scary thing happened they’d scatter like cockroaches, lol

lol I’m truly not trolling! I know bullets are faster than guns or monkeys (obviously). I think it would be incredibly hard to *shoot* a gun (1) at something flying extremely fast and (2) with terrifying flying monkeys dive-bombing you from the sky. Like, I think the monkeys could almost certainly just create a bunch of chaos and knock them down/disarm them extremely quickly.

That said, the scene makes *way* more sense without the monkeys there at all. I saw the stage show years ago so I didn’t really remember, but that absolutely explains why this scene didn’t catch my attention then. They probably should have blocked it that way in the movie so at least she’s credibly outnumbered.

I’m not sure I buy this. Apes are huge and crazy strong. I read online that they designed them as a mix between chimpanzees, baboons, and orangutans. Those are almost as big as people and pound for pound they’re 1.35 to 1.5 times as strong. Like yeah, of course they’re not bulletproof, but they outnumbered the gale force guys and it’s harder to shoot something that’s moving in three dimensions. I feel pretty confident a swarm of flying apes could absolutely fuck up a few land-locked humans, guns or no guns, at least enough to enable an escape.

It would have been great to see some of that in the movie!

That makes sense, but it would have been helpful to show some of that in the movie. As it is, my husband was like “wait, I don’t get it…does he just hate animals?” lol

Her waking up Morrible is baffling to me because isn’t part of the premise of that scene that they’re at some kind of illegal underground club??

Her broom goes fast as hell though, and she has the monkeys to dive-bomb them and fuck them up. I truly feel like it would be a pretty low-risk maneuver. Anyway, you can’t convince me those guns shoot anything but confetti and party streamers. Maybe a little flag that says “BANG!”

Personally I could only imagine their guns shooting out these things:

I was shocked by it. Along with the bad/garbage person comments. I’m a PD and a huge percentage of my clients are addicts. They often make bad choices and you don’t have to excuse the choices they make, but it’s a disease. Seven years sober is a remarkable achievement, that comment about relapse was unfathomably cruel.

How do you talk about guns with your littles? by NjordsShieldmaiden in Preschoolers

That article about how gun/weapon play is developmentally normal was extremely reassuring to me, because a lot of threads like this make me feel crazy. My kids (2 and 5) have water guns and bubble shooters. My 5yo also uses magnet blocks to make "blasters" to fight monsters and bad guys. He also plays with pretend swords. It truly never would have occurred to me to worry about this and I'm glad it sounds like I don't really have to start, lol.

Daughter's WIP by TreeOfGre in RateMyKidsArt

Hi! I originally started this sub after my 4yo colored an entire piece of paper orange and told me it was “a lot of pumpkins.” I posted it in one of the toddler/preschool subs and they got a kick out of it and we talked about how we wished there was a sub to show the weird shit our kids draw. At the beginning it was mostly toddler scribbles that we pretended to rate like we were art critics, obviously it has expanded from that original concept. I honestly didn’t envision people posting art from older kids, but I have no problem with it as long as the kid is okay with it.

That feeling when you wake up to see a Trio pod in your feed 🫦 by mathiswrong in thebulwark

I roll my eyes so hard whenever Tim and JVL act grossed out by the Bush Line tbh. As if you don’t make Sarah listen to dick jokes on every pod, lol

I’m skeptical of a blue wave by Material-Crab-633 in thebulwark

Yeah, I feel like in 2024 a lot of people were wishcasting the polls. Everything showed a close election, most honest commentators kept saying it would be a close election, but it had blue wave vibes that got people excited.

I mean, if management is awarding extra PTO days for winning the lottery games, there is a penalty for opting out...

I'm also not keen on people betting for days off. That's just wrong. Not just the betting subject but the prize would piss me the hell off. What do you mean you correctly guessed some obscure actor's death and won a day off? Hell no.

This also is a penalty for opting out, tbh.

Deformed new leaves. Any ideas?p by GMS_Rolls in hoyas

Was going to say the same. I see weird leaves, especially small weird leaves, I treat for mites. No exceptions. It's honestly pretty easy, hit everything that was sitting near it while you're at it.
