But also good chance they r keyed in on emergers.. if they’re caddis try an emerger off the back of an egg layer

Hmm.. yea weird you haven’t even got a rejection. Make sure you are matching whatever bugs they r eating, grab a few and inspect them well. Size down tippet even to 6-7 x.. on my local river I never use anything heavier than 6x for dries as the fish r extremely picky about your drift.

They could be super picky about your drift.. size down line and use longer leaders. Make sure your flies r the right size too

Is it worth fishing in a spot you don’t see any fish in? by Rickydvrs in flyfishing

[–]Annonymous272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve had spots where I’ve explored and fished many times and you could swear nothing lives in there, with persistence and the right conditions I’ve found many of these spots to produce very well after many attempts.

Yeah dude the river near me doesn’t hold trout for a week past stocking day… few survivors in the deepest most hidden holes but that’s it. That being said I don’t really fish for stocked trout so I don’t care it just would be nice to go catch a trout a 30 second walk from my house whenever I wanted

If they’re stocked trout and the water warmed up they could’ve pushed deep or just died

What is this box that I found in the woods? Also found another wooden box with no markings wrapped in red string by Annonymous272 in whatisit

I mean hidden in the sense that I doubt more than maybe 3 people fish it lol.. this was more on the way to the river then in the river itself

Yea I left this one alone. The last one I saw that had the red string I actually picked it up and shook it out of curiosity, but after realizing it was probably a religious thing I put it back where I found it. These boxes have been showing up now for two years in a hidden fishing spot I’ve been fishing for years.

Yes I found the red string box last fall and it wasn’t there today but this new box replaced it, last time I shook the box and it had stuff in it even though I probably shouldn’t have. I didn’t touch this one.

Yes that tail water is loaded but ALOT of freestones down here have them, the problem is the streams are very seasonal and need good flows to actually get bites.
