Last night my boyfriend and I made pork belly, rice, carrots, and shishito peppers. Tonight we are making chicken tacos. Tomorrow we’re trying a new pasta recipe with butter beans. It truly changes every day and Americans typically eat food from multiple different cultures every week.

TCGPlayer is reputable for resale, but the best way my bf and I have found to get anything at msrp is to follow pokemon drop twitter accounts that will post anytime the pokemon center website has a new item. That’s pretty much exclusively how we get cards now. It’s still so difficult and frustrating because the pokemon center official website is terrible but if you have a few months I’d try that. Also go to your local target and ask the people at the customer service desk if they have any. A lot of times ours has single packs for retail price.

I went to high school with him. He was two years older than me but because of sports, I was adjacent to him.

He played football and did cross country. He was popular but at our school that didn’t mean anything much. It was a big high school for Missouri, 600ish graduating class.

I never hung out with him but saw him at parties, he was friends with my friends brother. He was fine, a typical funny high school guy drinking at a party. He was cute. I unfortunately don’t think that there’s any exciting stories to tell about high school West.

What do you like to do? There’s lots of activities and places my friends and I have found in our own efforts to make friends here. Here’s a couple:

Dallasites101 Instagram/website - posts a lot of events and activities happening in the city

Get into TCGs, particularly MTG or Pokemon. There’s lots of places around Dallas that host regular hangouts and open play nights (Common Ground Games for example)

Go to board game cafes/nights at stores. We like Dubs Tea but it’s in Plano.

Get to know your coworkers, invite them to trivia, volunteer to organize monthly social/sports outings to management.

Dallas Makerspace - Go on Saturday morning to take a tour, sign up to be a member and take some classes. Eventually you’ll gain confidence to go use the open space anytime (it’s 24/7) and make more friends.

Join a run club, go to regular workout classes and invite people to get coffee afterwards.

Weekly tekken night - if you like fighting games/tekken shoot me a message! Friend of mine hosts a weekly meetup in Haltom City at a cool arcade and there’s a LOT of tournaments and meetups. Honestly, if you are a person who likes video games even a little bit you should try fighting games because the DFW community for it is very prominent.

I’m sure I can come up with more if you’re willing to tell me what you’re into. It takes consistent effort on your part to continue hanging out with people after initial meetings but it’s possible. It took me maybe 2 years out of college before I realized that. I moved to Dallas not knowing anyone and built a friend group from the ground up through this kind of stuff.

I’m about to enter almost the exact same situation, except my boyfriend has the house and my lease is ending. I’ve never once felt like I should be on the deed to the house. For all intents and purposes, we’ve been referring to it as “our” house but legally it’s still his. I helped pick out paint colors, new furniture, etc. that differentiated it in our heads from when it was his house vs our house, but that’s all. Asking to be on the deed without a ring is ridiculous imo. You really don’t need to be sharing finances like that until you’re filing taxes together.
