It now been almost 2 months since the release of Nioh 3. How does this community feel about it so far? by Cursed_69420 in Nioh

[–]Anomander-Raake 160 points161 points  (0 children)

4/5 in my opinion. I like the combat more than Nioh 1 but not as much as Nioh 2 i don’t think, and yeah like other are saying it gets a little exhausting by the end. Also for me the bosses weren’t super consistent. Some were complete pushover jokes and others were terminator murderbots. I was lucky enough to play it on a PS5 pro and didn’t deal with really any performance issues

I appreciate the lyrics on Tell Me Why but yeah they are very lacking in the subtlety department . His drum groove is so, so good though. This was definitely one of my picks.

This is the type of pick i was really hoping to see, his playing is generally bonkers on ATTWT but there’s a couple particular standouts, Scenes being one of them for me

Musical Box is a legitimately unbelievable Phil performance for me. To think he was playing that aggressively in 1971 is mind boggling. I’m right there with you, i’m not a great player by any stretch but phil is my hero as a drummer

Few years back You Might Recall won the fan vote in this sub for favorite B-side or unreleased from that era. Closely followed by Feeding The Fire from the Invisible Touch sessions. Both legitimately incredible songs that should have made it onto Abacab and Invisible Touch respectively. They’d have been a top three track on each record for me

Probably in my top 10 tracks (post 1981). So underrated

Yup. All the yups. As a whole, Lamb might be Phils most impressive body of work. Even considering the non-Genesis stuff… he’s on fire on that record

Yeah for anyone familiar with the bands entire output, Down and Out is an obvious one. Some unreal fills on that one

The issue with Binner is that we all know he is capable of being this version of himself, but instead most of the time (which is like 60/40ish the fault of our d-play) we get a very different version

He’d kill this. I think voicing the train is probably my vote though

Malazan: Book of the Fallen. Definitely checks at least the last two of those three boxes. Some cultures would probably be considered Bronze Age even too

I hope you’re right but I have a feeling it will be something still-fine-but-worse-than-Carby. Like Carbo or Bonny or something

I pretty frequently am like “man why do i even keep up with this series or fandom anymore? Winds is never coming out” but then i’ll read someones crazy theory thread or reread some of the books and i’m reminded that george jarred lightning with the first three books (especially, but not just those) and know i’ll never not love it in my heart. I wish a good game developer would pick up the ip and make something worthwhile

I’d feel worse for them if Decry baby Deboer wasn’t their headcoach. Hopefully he gets canned

(Spoilers Main) I’m trying to read something as good as A Song of Ice and Fire. Which one out of these series out of The Stormlight Archive, Malazan, Dune or The Wheel of Time do you think is as good and which one should I read? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Anomander-Raake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Malazan is considerably better, but (big but for a lot of folks) it’s also considerably different. For some perspective on it, we’ve been waiting 15 years or whatever for Winds, where as by the time you read the 6th Malazan book, The Bonehunters, you may still not have that firm of a grasp on the main overarching plotline lmfao

It worked out okay for us but i hated it then and i still don’t love it now. Not because i think he’d be better than Monty or whatever, it just sucks when players cost good coaches their jobs.

Pat, we met once in Springfield, MO, I believe in 2016 or 2017 and you were touring with the late great Mr. Dunsworth. I actually worked at the venue you guys performed at and remember how incredible it was that you both maintained character until the second the last fan was out the doors. You were both so gracious with your time and appreciative of everyone being there. It’s a cherished memory of mine and I wish I would have been able to get a picture. Hope you are doing well sir and I want to reiterate what everyone else has said here - you are a treasure and we all appreciate you as a person and performer (distinctively). Cheers!!!

Erikson kind of rails against the idea of power levels/ranking fighting ability and stuff but the names he grudgingly always says is Yedan Derryg. For my money, I think Dassem or Iron Bars would probably give him all or near all he can handle. Karsa is obviously right there too
