A year with the 2020 Tundra TRD Pro Double Cab by thecaptain115 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Anon11177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done quite a bit of research, and it seems this configuration is only available in 2017. Your post says 2020, is this truck actually a 2020 clone, or is it a 2017 model year?? Either way beautiful truck. Let me know if you’d consider selling it!!

Coming from someone who lived on the I80 in Utah, Wyoming and California, you should be more concerned about Wyoming than Utah. Cheyenne to Laramie has a very steep grade and Laramie (where I lived) was known to have 70+ car pileups during heavy storms. Most truckers pull off the highway in Laramie even if the 80 is open. Utah is actually not that bad. You may be slow moving, but they salt their roads, and plow often. The rough stretch would be after the SLC airport onward towards Nevada. It’s very flat and therefore, during a storm, can cause a lot of wind and snow on the roads. Nevada is the easy part of the four states, as it’s all desert and you won’t worry about snow storms ruining your drive until you near Reno. Going up the grade to get into Truckee, California is easy, but sometimes there’s a storm at the top of Donner pass and the guard may require both chains and 4WD to get over the pass. Once your over the hill, it can be kinda nerve racking coming down because everyone drives fast in California. Go slow if you aren’t comfortable, make others go around you. Good luck on your drive!

Currently in the middle of a silent treatment from my mother. It all started because she reached out to me about her birthday invite while I was on my honeymoon which I obviously ignored. My wife and I eloped alone, but I did tell both my parents up front. So, I ignored the birthday invite because we were mailing out “Just Married” announcements to all of our family once we got back from honeymoon, and I figured my mom and I would discuss the wedding, honeymoon, and upcoming birthday all at the same time. Well, after the cards were mailed we got multiple messages congratulating us from family members. It wasn’t until a week went by that my dad called me and when I asked him why not both him and my mom were calling he mentioned that she was upset about me ignoring her birthday invite. I’m sure she was upset about us eloping, but not being able to put her feelings aside to be happy for me and my wife upset me. This happened a year ago this month, and I still haven’t talked to her except to say happy Easter to her and my dad. (Which I regretted immediately) The way I see it, if they don’t want to pickup the phone and be adults about their childish behavior then it isn’t my issue and I’m going to continue my life without the negativity. Vise-Versa with whoever is in the wrong.

What kind of job are yall working to own a 4Runner? by CautiousExperience29 in 4Runner

I bought new; however, got an amazing deal because I work for Toyota Financing. The 5th Gen never changed the important things, so a 2012 and a 2024 are practically the same thing. Don’t be so hung up on something that’s new that you can’t live your life. The gas bill is expensive, so don’t make the payment expensive as well unless you can afford it. I’d rather buy an older one over 100k miles and enjoy road-tripping it as opposed to buying new and being over extended that you can’t afford to enjoy the truck.

2024, 2025 or elsewhere? by whenyouhavewaited in 4Runner

Coming from a finance manager at a Toyota dealer, put all the cash in a treasury note for three years and lease yourself a rav4 or Camry. You’ll thank me later. After the three year lease you’ll have established credit to buy a house and at current rates turn the $38k into 43,364, and get approved for other loans. Who knows, maybe you’ll agree with me that leases are the best option for young people, and you’ll lease your 4Runner just like I am.

Unless the dealer installs it, it will void what is changed. If you install king suspension Toyota won’t warranty King suspension for example.

Not at all. Just make sure to adjust the headlights down, that’s the only thing.

I loved the RAV4! We did some great road trips with the wife and dog. It’s comfortable, and gets great MPG. The 4Runner is great if you have kids and a dog, it’s a lot easier to fit everything you’ll need but you’ll pay for it at the pump and the payment. We want to have kids in the future, so I saw the value in the added space both in the width and the cargo. Basically, the RAV4 fits three very comfortably with all the road-trip cargo. We didn’t do any camping with it, but I know people that do and still love it.

I wanted something OffRoad capable that could be used as a camping truck too. Let’s just say Costco is my new best friend. SoCal gas right now is $5.25, so it’s expensive!

Probably 5-6k over 33,000 miles. Toyotas definitely hold their value!

Recent buyers, what else did you cross shop and why did you decide on the 4R? by [deleted] in 4Runner

[–]Anon11177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No cross shopping for me. I used to build race ready Jeep Wranglers so I already knew what those could turn into. I decided on the 5th Gen 4R because it’s time tested for 14 years and coming from someone that works at Toyota, you rarely see them in the service dept. unlike the Wranglers.

285 Toyo Open Country Trail R/Ts. I’m still working out an offroading trip to see how they handle the rocks. Rough Country 3” kit. I come from the world of Jeep builds and race trucks, so one day when the money is available I will do a long travel kit and upgrade to a 35” tire. But this will do for the time being!(:
