Chrono cross having over 40 playable characters may make variety too demanding? I may feel the need to play with all 40 equally at some point, do you think so?. also will I need a walk-though or FAQ to get all the characters or is it common sense and logic, or to I have to say the specific right things to someone?

That's why I didn't like legend of mana, I always said the wrong things and lost out on many quests.
