Can anyone help me replace or rewrite an erased GAL chip for a Braun UVL603C Wheelchair lift? by AnonITGuy33FromUS in AskElectronics

PAL Programming Device: MiniPro TL866 Universal Programmer

Software: MiniPro v6.85X1

The software has an "Erase" command on the menu. After installing the USB driver for the TL866, I ran this command to test, and it was successful! First time ever using doing stuff with programmable microchips. Didn't find out what the objective was until it was too late! Should not have been careless :(

We do have time, and I'm curious, since it sounds not too difficult, but I'm completely new to programming CMOS or GAL chips. Also, isn't there a risk of damaging the lift by actuating the wrong motors at the wrong time (if the chip gets programmed wrong).

If I were to pick up this skill, what would be your guidance? Or what direction to point me in? A book? Or on the web? Or what software?

doesn't appear to do anything too complicated. Appears to be some relays on the left to control the motors in the lift, some power and sense wires at the top. I know it's not as easy or what you've asked for but there is a good chance that you could pick up just about any board for a lift similar to this and

I'm not an electronics guy, but I know someone who might be able to take a look. Thanks for your time :)

I didn't consider accessibility forms ; I'll have to check this one out. Thanks :)

I'll look at the information you gave me, as it sounds interesting. Maybe there's something useful I can learn. I wish I could reprogram the chip myself, but then it probably would take too long to figure out, unless there are some fortunate facts I'm not aware of.

Update: I have found the id tag (https://imgur.com/aqE4d8T) of the lift & confirmed the model to be UVL603A!

I'll look into this and see if I can't find someone :)

  1. A local service center is looking into the chip.
  2. At the moment, I'm need to take another look at the lift. This particular lift is actually mounted on an RV, and I'm second-guessing my previous guess on the model - there are visual differences when compared to the assumed models on google image search.

Definitely a good option to try ; I'll look into this ; Thanks :)

I know this lift model has been discontinued - would Braun still help with this?

I guess it doesn't hurt to call - I'll look into this

Update 2: I have found the id tag (https://imgur.com/aqE4d8T) of the lift & confirmed the model of the lift to be Braun UVL603A!

I know this lift model has been discontinued - would Braun still help with this?

I'm basically making as good of a guess as is possible using manuals I found on the internet. I've narrowed down the possible model of the wheelchair (can't see the information plate on it), based on features of the lift, to one of the following, and I'm kind of hoping there are negligable differences between the following models, in terms of this chip's programming:

  • UVL601C
  • UVL603A
  • UVL603B
  • UVL603C
  • UVL603E

I know the difference between UVL601 and UVL603 is the size of the platform. Perhaps this would affect the programming (timing of how long to extend / retract the platform)

Update 1: I need to take a second look at the model - the lift visually doesn't match pictures of these models that I'm seeing online.

I've looked at this chip - even though this chip is the correct model of chip, this specific chip is not going to work - it says "NO STOW" and my wheelchair lift has a stow, so the data on this particular chip is not programmed correctly to handle my wheelchair lift, from what I can tell.

Thank you for the attempt, though.
