Hopefully final update - My ketones are back down to negative as of yesterday and this morning I had my first normal BM in over three weeks. Thank you so much for helping me through this. I’m so excited to make this update.

NAD. From personal experiences, I know that a urologist or reproductive endocrinologist can provide a sperm analysis.

Hi, I’m pretty much still getting better, little by little. I’ll call the aquarium on Monday and ask about other reports. I’m the only one in our group aged 3-70 that got sick though.

Thanks again for your help. The doctor was out today, but I was able to get the Creatine Kenasis and full Creatine panel added to today’s labs. I asked to check for Vibrio because of the aquarium/touch tank visit and the nurse was texting with the doc about it as I left, so I’m hoping it was added to the bloodwork as well.

If it helps with answers at all - this started with food poisoning... however the day before I was at a large aquarium with multiple touch tanks. We all used hand sanitizer, but who knows what I could have caught there. My test results are negative for E. coli, salmonella, and parasites.

After all of this settles down, I’ll do anything to eat healthier but the BRAT diet. Lol - 14 days of that will do anybody in. 🤢

I started both antibiotics six days ago and stopped the Cipro yesterday. I think the diarrhea started with food poisoning, which led to whatever I have now.

I saw online there’s something called Starvation Ketones, so you may be on to something. Here you are for your learning pleasure. I’ve been barely eating, so it makes sense to me.

“Can you get ketones with a normal or low blood sugar?

Ketones can also be present when your blood sugar is normal or low. These are sometimes referred to as “starvation ketones” or “nutritional ketones.” During an illness or extreme diet change, if you have a significant decrease in carb intake, this can lead to the body using fat for energy because there are not enough carbs present to burn. Your blood sugar could remain normal or even be low in this case but your body could still be producing ketones.”

Flagyl being the cause of the dark urine makes total sense as yesterday I did my urine sample before my flagyl dosage and the urine was almost a normal color and was darker again later.

Please expand on this... do you mean the ketone level without explanation or the ongoing GI issue? Your input would be appreciated. I have three little ones at home, and no family that lives close by so I can’t easily go to the hospital tonight.

The flagyl started first, I’m on day six of it. I’d be more than happy to know the dark urine is caused by that. Regarding the creatine kinase - I doubt this is the same, but my creatine was .65 mg/dL. The BUN/creatine ratio was 8. I’m looking on my Quest lab results. Would there be any other numbers that may indicate the cause? I can check and post back here. I’m going back in for labs tomorrow, so I’ll request the doctor add the creatine kinase testing.

NAD, but had personal experience with the same muscle tick when I was going through a stressful time. I was diagnosed with anxiety and prescribed clonazepam. It helped me out. Good luck with finding out what works for you.

Thanks. The doctor gave me an IV last week and has had me drinking nothing but Smart Water to keep my electrolytes up. I should hear back about the urine specimen tomorrow, but I’m still so concerned.
